If my family of 5 decides to stay at akl one of my kids will have to stay with my mom Who is also going but she will be arriving a day earlier than us......wondering How that would work with magic express. We already have our airline tickets.

It'll work fine. Each onsite guest is entitled to one trip from the airport to WDW on or after the day their reservation starts. Your mother just needs to advise Disney of the two different arrival dates when making her reservation.

We are staying at different resorts....does that matter? We would rather all go to our hotel and then bring him to my mom later on.

The person staying at the different resort must go to that (different) resort.

Here's my suggested method of orchestrating things at the Magical Express welcoming area:

1. Have your mom standing by at her resort lobby.
2. First check in only the child going to your mom's resort.
3. See your child board the bus.
4. Offer to escort your child if a question is raised regarding an escort.
5. The remaining persons check in for Magical Express and board their bus.

Unfortunately the person staying with your Mom will only be transported to the resort they are a registered guest at. Maybe put the oldest child in the room with mom - make sure they get on the DME bus at the airport and then have a cell phone - with Mom waiting at the DME stop when they arrive? Depends on the age and maturity of the child of course :)

There is an age set on how old you have to be to ride a DME bus without an adult--I think you have to be at least 12.

I would have a parent ride the bus rather than a child. Have Mom list the child on the reservation, the parent can take that childs MB and check in at DME. Then meet up at a park or whatever.

Good point about the age - I think we need more info from the OP. If the oldest child is not 12 (or whatever the min age is to ride) then I doubt DME will even take the reservation.

There is a slim chance that the bus route you are on will stop at the other resort you need to stop at. Since the dme busses stop at several resorts on each run. But it isn't predictable, if it does, then just get off the bus where you want to.

My son is 15 so I think he would be ok on the bus, but my mom was planning a park day and we were all going to meet up for dinner later. I guess we could do Mears or something....anyone know how much that is?
