We've signed on for Magic Express, however I don't know how this could work with customs??:confused3

Has anyone done it?

We used ME last summer. We checked our bags in in calgary and they did the scan of them then. ME never had any troubles with our luggage and it was delivered to our resort room with no problems....hope that helps.

This is what I recall from our last couple of trips.

When going through Pearson you take your luggage and deal with customs on the Canadian side. Then you drop your luggage off (same as everyone else, except yours will have your yellow ME tags) and get on the plane. When you get off the plane, you go to the ME desk to check in, and ME whisks you off to WDW. Since you've already dealt with customs, ME picks up your bag like they would anyone elses who didn't have to deal with it.

On the way back, you check your bag (I know I had to do it at the airport since my airline couldn't do WDW check-in). Then you flew home and when you got off the plane, picked up your luggage (along with everyone else on your flight) and then dealt with customs again.

Pretty much, you do all customs on the Canadian side of the trip, so you'll have your luggage with you and ME won't effect it (since ME only deals with pick up and possibly drop off in FL).

Hope this answers your question. Have a great trip!

I was told by my TA yesterday, and the info is also in my doc pkg, that although we will be going thru customs in Toronto, we will still need to p/u our luggage in Orlando and then go to the ME info desk.

We've used the Magical Express for each of our 3 trips. We've flown 1 direct from halifax and 2 connecting through Toronto.

We never had to worry about our luggage when we arrived in Orlando, whether direct flight or not. Once the luggage stickers go on your luggage, don't worry about them, they will arrive within a few hours of your check-in

It all depends if you have already gone through customs at another airport. If so, then there's no problem, ME will pick up your luggage and drop it off at your resort.

However, I was told, that if you have to go through customs in MCO, then you have to go and pick up your luggage and go through customs, then bring it with you to the ME bus. I believe it is written on the ME booklet.

If you are flying out of Toronto you have already gone through customs at Pearson Airport and will not have to get your bags in Orlando. I have done it many times and never had a problem. Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

Just as everyone else said, you should have no worries, ME picks them up and drops them at your hotel. Your hotel then delivers them to you.
But one word of wisdom, when we went they were delivered about 4-5 hours after we got there and it was hot. We could not go swimming since we did not have our swim suits, so if you are arriving during the day or even the early evening you may want to pack your swimming gear in your carry on, that way you have it with you and you can go swimming while waiting for the rest of your luggage to show up.

Same here. Connected through Toronto once, another time Ottawa. Both were the same.

Thx for the info.

Thanks guys!

I was getting myself all confused there.

I am excited that we don't have to deal with our luggage in Orlando, but apprehensive about putting it through another chance to get lost.

I wonder what happens if there's a problem with the luggage, like something vibrating or ticking etc? :upsidedow

Well if you are brining anything with batteries in it take the batteries out. other than that don't bring them ;)

Sounds like you looking for things to go wrong:rolleyes:

We never lock our luggage but use cable ties to secure the zippers. If they need to go through your luggage they won't do any damage to it then. I also pack a pair of nail clippers in the front pouch of the checked baggage so when we get to the rooms, I have a tool to remove the cable ties.

Like the previous poster mentioned, remove all batteries and you'll be fine.

Depending on when you are scheduled to arrive, it's good to bring either a change of clothes / or bathing suits so you can enjoy the parks and not have to wait for the luggage to arrive. When we arrived near noon/mid afternoon, the baggage was usually delivered within a few hours. When we arrived near midnight, they kept our bags till the next morning and we then just called down to the front desk to have them delivered when we woke up. Either way, some some essentials in your carry on so you won't get stuck having to wait for the baggage to arrive.

It's only been 3 months since our last visit and it feels like years!! I so want to go back again, maybe this time just my wife and I. I know we'd have a great time even without the kids.

It was a joke...

Rookie, I totally hear ya. We don't have kids yet so this is like our last hurrah!
We'll definitely take our future children, but it will be a completely different kind of trip.

If I want to be sure my luggage arrives same time I do, is there any issues with me not putting the ME tags on, and collecting my luggage at the MCO baggage carrousels and then bringing it to ME buses (thru their check in areas, etc) myself?

I plan to take off soon as I checked into my room and be out til 11pm... rather not have to deal with baggage at that hour or to have to track it down next AM.

That's assuming it makes it to MCO on my flight! Stranger things have happened!

There is no issue picking it up, but it will slow you down by 30 - 45 minutes (maybe a little more if you're picking your luggage up in terminal A (and you have to schlep everything over to terminal B for DME.
