Erg, I tried to post and something happend and I lost the post. Ok, here goes:
First, thanks for reading my report, everyone. It's been fun. I'm happy to answer any questions.
First, the Villains Tonight Show; I agree it is probably for an older crowd. However, even if my children were a little older, I still wouldn't want them watching the portrayal of evil being the good option. It had a lot of demonic type stuff that I thought was too much. However, the costumes, songs, production, etc. were great. It did have some humor and wasn't all bad. I did enjoy the Captain Hook/Pirate Scene. Just overall we didn't care for it. But, no one made us go and certainly no one made us stay for the show. We simply wont go to it next time. I'd rather my children see the hero's and the "magical" good feelings of Disney, than evil Villains being shown as heros. Hope this makes sense.
Oh yes, we take full advantage of the character photos. My girls love all the character interaction. The characters are great on the cruise! They totally interact with the children from big kids to babies. Even characters that don't talk (i.e. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip & Dale, Dopey, etc.) they dance, play, run around, jump, play peek a boo, etc. And the princesses .. they do talk....and they are absolutely fabulous. Not this trip, but last year, my daughter had told one of the princesses her name. The next time we saw her she remembered my daughters name and called her by name. WOW! That's Disney!
Ok, back to my report.
Friday – Castaway Cay: Ah, what a beautiful day! We slept until almost 10:00am! Got up, woke up DH and sent him upstairs to get light breakfast for everyone. He brought back sausage, bananas, cereal and bagels. I went to guest services to get a stroller. We “suited up” and headed off the ship around noon. The island looked beautiful today with the sun shining and the gorgeous water! I love this picture:
We took the tram and headed to the beach.
We swam, played in the sand, took a few pictures, of course and decided to eat lunch around 1:30pm.
We had a nice picnic lunch (Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips, Salads, Ribs, Fresh Fruit, Cookies, Ice Cream). It was all good. Then DD (age 1) fell asleep in the stroller. I left her with DH & Gma. Nephew went with me to take DD (age 3) to get her hair braided. She looked adorable!
Finished product:
After the hair braiding we decided to head back to the ship. It was around 2:30pm – 3:00pm when we got back to the ship. Nephew and I walked back with the girls. DD (age 1) was asleep in her stroller and I didn't want to wake her to put her on the tram. Nephew pulled DD (age 3) in the Disney provided wagon. On Castaway Cay Disney provides wheel chairs that go thru the sand, wagons, strollers, anything to help make the trip easier. Here is a picture of DD in the wagon.
They also had nice wet towels to wipe off with before getting back on the ship. That’s a nice touch! Here is picture of Nephew on our walk back to the ship.
DD (age 3) wanted to go to the club while we packed up a few things. Worked for us! I think before dinner we took pictures with Mickey and Minnie one last time. My DD can’t get enough of the characters. She loves them! DD (age 1) went to Flounders for the last time. Tonight was our last night and we were back in Lumiere for the third time. Everything was good, but getting a little sad. I had spinach, artichoke, jalepeno dip, salad, lobster bisque soup, and seafood pasta. Of course, no night is complete without the Mickey Bar. Tonight was also Baked Alaska night. I had two of these. They are yummy! DD (age 3) had went to the club at 9:00pm. So, right before dessert I went up to get her. She came down and had dessert with us and then she and I went into the lobby atrium to wait for the Final Farewell Show. DH, Gma and nephew found seats and spaces around the outside to watch everything going on. I wanted her to have a spot on the floor. Some nice lady let her stand in front of her so she had a great spot when the characters came thru. They come down the stairs and thru a pathway in the lobby. We were able to get several photos with the characters during the farewell. We were running all over. It was fun. Chaotic, but fun.
After the party DD (age 3) wanted to go back to the club one last time. So, we dropped her off there and went to get DD (age 1) from Flounders. We finished our packing and got our bags into the hallway. I had went to get sodas and milk, pick up DD (age 3) from last night at the club. She didn’t want to leave. It was so pitiful. It wasn’t a fit or crying – just plain sadness that she didn’t want to leave. It made me sad. Well, once we got back to the room we headed to bed for the evening.
Saturday – Back in Port Canaveral. Here is the overall feeling we all had:
We had gotten so used to sleeping in that a 7:00am wake up call was a jolt back to reality! We had breakfast at Topsiders and were off the ship and in my brother’s car by 9:30am. Gma and DH had finished all the last minute things the night before while I was getting sodas, picking up DD, etc. they accidentally packed my shoes I’d planned to wear off the ship. Yes, I was barefoot walking off the ship! Once we got to the baggage area I quickly pulled out my shoes! How embarrassing! Well, the rest of our trip went like this; arranged a rental van, lunch with my brother’s family, picked up the rental van and starting traveling home. Then a quick shopping stop at St. Augustine, FL. I got an hour at the outlet mall. Not much time, but I managed to spend some cash at Gymboree pretty quickly! Then we drove until 2:30am slept for a few hours and finished our drive home on Sunday. We returned the rental van in Nashville and picked up our van with wheel barring fixed and arrived home around 8:00pm.
All in all this was a great trip! Our crazy events that happened; van breaking down, last minute flights, broken video camera, rental van, etc. were all inconvenient. But still way better than a week at work. And at least we had a week on the Disney Magic to enjoy!
Well, if you want a play by play of someone’s vacation with a toddler and preschooler this is about as detailed as it gets. If you want someone who got to spend a nice relaxing time in the spa every day, this probably wasn’t’ the review for you. Regardless, thanks for reading it and taking time to relive our vacation. We had a great time!
See ya real soon!
