I live in cali and would love to see the Magic come into Port next Saturday. CAn anyone tell me where it will be coming in to dock at and at what time?

I believe it comes in very early in the morning. Most people I've heard of are going to watch her leave port that afternoon/evening. I believe Ports O Call is having a little party for it. I saw someone post this link for more info.. http://www.sanpedrochamber.com/beacon_0505.pdf.
Very exciting!! :flower:

Edited to add...
I can't get the link to work. It worked last week for me but I'm not very computer savy... :badpc: I can copy and paste with the best of them but anything more than that and your better off asking your dog!!! Maybe it will work for you. (I tried) Amy :flower:

I got to the page. Big thanks. I might just go and watch it leave. ITs suppose to be a very big deal. Can anyone tell me where they will be watching leave from? :wizard:

Here is a satellite photo of the Port of San Pedro area. You can see a ship docked toward the top of the pic, and Ports o' Call Village is on the west side of the channel towards the south. Just west of the ship is the southern end of the 110 (Harbor) Freeway. I understand the "official" arrival time is 8:30am, but I think they'll arrive much earlier than that.

Dang it! Moved away from Long Beach over ten years ago and now look what's happening! DCL is going to dock in my old neck of the woods. I sent an e-mail to passenger cruise authority over at the World Cruise Center (L.A. Harbor/ Port of L.A.) and asked for the official arrival time of the Magic on the 28th. I haven't heard back (as it is Saturday). Maybe he will let me know which specific dock the Magic will stop at. The passengers are to disbark at 8:30am and then set sail again at 5:00pm (If some one has a different time please feel free to clarify the time). I'm sure the Magic will dock in San Pedro very early in the morning of the 28th as the previous day is a sea day. That will give the ship plenty of time to get to the port on time.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GO SEE THE MAGIC DOCK, PLEASE TAKE PLENTY OF DIGITAL PICS AND POST 'EM HERE OR MAKE YOUR OWN THREAD. If you can catch it w/ a digital video cam so we DISers can view the arrival and docking in action that would be great too!

A GOOD SPOT TO WATCH: on the V incent Thomas B ridge itself if you can. Or if you can park, park at the Cruise center. They should let you in.

Oh, please some one be a camera happy person such as I and take lots of pics on the 28th.

:sad:I wish I could fly out to So. Calif. for a day!

Are you talking about the Queen Mary area? I believe at this time only Carnival leaves from this area. The Magic leaves from Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro I believe. Amy :flower:

Amy is correct and I think we are all on the same page. "All Carnival Cruise Line Ships and some ships of the cruise lines owned by Carnival Corporation arrive and depart from Long Beach. All other Cruise ships arrive and depart from the The Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center in San Pedro " taken from the following link http://www.sanpedro.com/spcom/crusshp2.htm.

I/We would like to find ANY to view the Magic's docking in San Pedro. We're thinking the ship may pass by the QM (Queen Mary) and we'll see a small glimpse of her possibly.

Amy, if you are close by, would/could you make a video feed to send to us DISers via internet? Just thought I'd ask.

I was planning on going in the morning at around 8:00ish. Is anyone else from the board going in the AM?

I will take plenty of pics to share. :flower:

For anyone who will be awake at 5 or 6 am on the day you arrive in LA...PLEASE stand on the port side of the ship and wave, as there will be a green group of us, ballons, airhors, banners and all. We are going to stand...not by the dock (that won't be open)...but in the middle of a bunch of restaraunts that line the water side. PLEASE look for us. We will be there to welcome you to California...and then to kick you off the ship! jk If anyone can get the word to Capt. Thord, can you ask him to toot the horn for us? PLEASE GUYS, be there for us as we'll be there for you!!!

You definitely won't see the Magic pass by the Queen Mary at any time. The Queen Mary is on the route to Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, while the Magic will be staying in the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. I'm familiar with the water routes to the Magic's dock and there is no opportunity to pass by the Queen Mary at all.

For those going in person, Ports o' Call is definitely the best place to view. I know the LA Maritime Museum was originally planning to escort the ship into the harbor with their twin brigantines, but I don't know if they still plan to do so with the one brigantine that's currently usable (the other is in repairs from it's recent grounding). There will be a big send-off event at Ports o' Call on Saturday afternoon. Planning to be there for it. Should be fun!

We were planning on going down next Saturday. I may be able to talk DH into videoing it but I can't do it this weekend. My DH will be out of town and I will have all the kiddos to myself. If I tried I'd probably get a nice shot of one of my monkies taking a swan dive into the water!! Hopefully some one can get one tomorrow or I'll try next weekend. Amy :flower:
