We always have used magic bands at WDW and loved the ease of charging, opening doors etc. Also being Canadian that I could order online and they would be at front desk on arrival.
As I can’t ship where can I buy the day before? Is the high price worth it with less benefits? Are there ever any at outlets or elsewhere cheaper?
Thanks so much

You can definitely buy MagicBands+ at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. Not sure about other retail outlets outside the park though I would bet there are some at the Star Wars Trading Post in DTD also. One challenge of buying right before is you might have to charge the bands before you can use the light and haptic effects (though the tapping will work regardless). If its day before, then that's no issue.

You can't use MagicBands+ at DLR to pay for stuff yet or to open hotel doors, so the specific use cases you cited aren't available yet. It's really just for ticket entry, Lightning lanes, random light up and haptic effects in the park and at shows, and the Bounty Hunter game in Galaxy's Edge. That was enough for me to buy, but I'm a huge nerd and my wife thought I was crazy to spend $130 on 3 magic bands just for that.

You can also buy them at the pin traders store by the Monorail entrance in DTD.

We saw a lot of people checking them out but not many in use in the parks during our trip this past weekend. Did notice a few people using them to check in for their LLs.

Thanks guys ! So so they have the little scanning stands or does a person scan you in to the rides ?
My little used DAS and since he has to scan first and it identifies him he lives everyone knowing him etc ..Thanks so much I’m really not sure I can justify the price and the less than great charge time

We bought ours when we went into the park in Dec. They come about half charged, I believe. Ours stayed charged all that day in the parks and we charged them when we got back to the hotel that night.

Yes, they have the scanning stands. There’s a person there too to address issues and confirm things are valid. Similar to WDW

And you can also use it for PhotoPass.
Thanks for posting that! YES! It was such a great feature when we were there last month. The photographers just zap the pics straight to your band and you can see them immediately on your phone app.

Edited to say you can immediately see the pics on your phone on the Disneyland app.

Pin trader in Down Town Disney by the Monorail Station has a large selection

Are there more design options in store at DL/DTD than at shopDisney? I didn't love the selection online - maybe I am just being too picky or want to see them IRL.

There are a TON more choices in the parks/DTD than online. If you don't love what's on ShopDisney there's a good chance you'll find something you like on property.

This is probably a silly question, but when folks are talking about magic bands working with photopass, do you strictly mean the photographers? Just curious if there was a quicker way for the ride photos.

I assume the MBs at DLR will work like they do at WDW and autoamtically link your ride photos. It uses a long-range scanner to do that. If not, there were also tap-points at the photo screens that you could just tap to associate your photo too.

DLR ride photos do not automatically link via your MB+. Not sure if there are tap points at the photo screens.

You can use the app: click the + symbol at the bottom and select Link PhotoPass Photos. Then you enter the 8-character Attraction ID from the photo monitor.

Oh, that's too bad - it's a great feature. Maybe they will add it in the future.

The automatic adding at WDW didn’t work all that well for us. But having the scan points under the photos worked well. Hope they add that at DL.

Tip for adding: iPhones (and I think Android phones as well) have an ability to select text directly in a photo. I usually take a quick pic of the ride photo and then get out of the way and select the text in the image to paste into the DL app to link.

I sure hope so. Currently, I'm still taking a pic of the pic so I can upload the code.

That sounded kind of catchy, didn't it?!
