In May we booked to go to SS for this August with Kenwood Travel. Will we get our magic bands sent to us at home or will we pick them up when we check in as we didn't book directly through Disney? Also will we be able to book our FP+ 60 days in advance if we don't get the magic bands until check in?

The only post Magic Bands to US address so you will collect them at check in.

You will be able to book FP+ in advance as it doesn't need you to actual have magic bands - just the qualifying reservation.

Will we be able to choose our own colours or to just get what we are given? I really want a pink one lol.
 

Thanks for the information, we are going in August (we booked in may) so I guess we have a few more months to choose our magic band colours but I'm pleased that we can choose which ones we want especially as there are 6 of us travelling this year.

It is still worth trying as many have reported being able to order them as much as 6 or 7 months in advance.
 
We've already customized ours for our October trip :)

ooh...that's made me excited as we go in November!! :cool1: We already have a lime band (mine) and a blue band (dh) from last November but aiming for a full set in time!!!!!!:rotfl2:
 
oooo I'm excited now. I'll get the number off my dad when he gets home from work. He organises the holiday and its up to me and my sister to book meals and now FP+.

What number do I need to link the booking?

That will put me at 4 magic bands then - only 1 more to get after that as I don't want Blue or Grey! :hyper:
 
I'm far too excited, we are bringing my sisters boyfriend with us this time and I'm slightly worried I'm going to scare him off with my Disney obsessiveness. Plus I'm waiting for the may/june 2015 Disney cruise dates so I can book my med cruise for my 30th birthday!!! :goodvibes

Yay just done mine and gone for Orange this time and not having my real name on it, gone for my nick name instead! DH on the other hand insists that he is ONLY having a red one again and no other colour will do as he supports Liverpool FC:rotfl: I know he'll say 'I wish I'd gone for another colour' when we get there. I have a few months to work on him. ;)
 
Hi very interested in this post. Haven't been since 2010 but have just booked thru Thompson to stay in all star sports resort in august. Am trying to get my head around the magic band/fastpass+ thing and am interested to register in advance if possible as suggested by WilmaBride. Elise you refer to needing Disney reservation ref no, but like the original poster we didn't book directly with Disney so where would I get this from? Also I cant seem to see whether everyone staying in Disney hotels can use fastpass+ in advance or not? (Am wondering if maybe not us as we are in a 'budget' Disney hotel!) Thanks
 
You need to obtain your Disney reference number from the company you booked with. Some are better at providing them than others so it may take a bit of persistence! They are either 12 number or 3 letter and 5 numbers.

At present all onsite guests get the same perks - so you will get to pre-book you FP+.

You need to set up a 'My Disney Experience' Account to customise your Magic bands and book you FP+.

There is an app for mobile devices however the website is better...

After postponing our trip until this summer, I've not logged into MDE for aaaages!

Just have now, and found our reservation using the number given to us by TCD - and my resort stay and guest info is showing. Once I'd updated all the names and ages to the correct information, it came up with a little pop up reminding me to customise my magic bands.

I've just clicked on the link, and it says this...

The MagicBand uses radio frequency (RF) technology and can be read by short and long-range readers located at the Walt Disney World Resort. So, the magic bands are showing (or the quantity is) - but the only link I can click on is the "Add Shipping Address" link, but it says not to add my shipping address as we're based outside of the USA and the bands will still go to the front desk for check in?

Do I add this info anyway? Or is it too early?

You need to go on to the website and it will take addresses outside the US. The app doesn't seem to be able to for some reason.

Another quick question, though it is OT.... When I checked my reservation details on MDE, it says this under dining:

2014 Table Service Meals - Adult, 2014 Quick Service Meals, 2014 Two Quick Service Meals per night

Which implies (unless I'm reading it totally wrong) that we're having the Quick Service dining plan? But our confirmation from TCD has this:

Hotel: Disney Old Key West Resort
4 Adults, 1 Child, 0 Infants
Check In: Fri 22 Aug 14
Check Out: Tue 02 Sep 14
Duration: 11 Nights
Meal Plan: Disney Dining Plan

No you are not reading it wrong - its a glitch in the website! It has been like it for a few years but don't worry you will get the normal DP when you are arrive!
