Magic Bands & Split Stay - Do I Have to Use Two Sets?

This July my group of friends and I (8 total) will be heading to WDW. We're doing a split stay at OKW with a few days a USD/IOA in between. My question is do we have to use two sets of Magic Bands? On the My Disney Experience website it looks like we'll be sent two sets of Magic Bands since we have two hotel reservations. However, I am foreseeing complications with our park tickets (6 days) and having to link them twice. Can we just carry over our Magic Bands from the first part of the trip and use them for the second half?

As a second question, does anyone know if I allow each person to charge things on the Magic Bands if it will say which band charged what on the final account? (i.e. Band X charged 5.99 at snack stand at MK) I am hesitant to give everyone (all adults) charging privileges if I won't be able to tell who bought what.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

We have had 2 sets during our last trip but used only the first. Bring both and let check in CM know. I'm not sure about charging though. Hope you have a good trip! We are there too in July...OKW for 2 wks!!!

You will be fine with one set of bands. We don't even get bands anymore, we just use our old ones.

For charging, it was never notated on the final bill who charged what. Just lumped together in order that it was charged. I am not sure if that is a possibility, doesn't hurt to ask front desk. You can assign cards to certain people for charging. If you only want a few people to have charging privileges, you can set that up at the front desk

You are supposed to be able to assign different CC to different bands. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - you could check at the front desk after the first day.

As for the bands it will be completely fine. The tickets are NOT linked to the bands but to you MDE account. So are your hotel stays. Any band assigned to you links back to everything in your MDE account. If you really only want one set though you can just customize the first set and confirm your address. Don't do the second set, when you check in for your second reservation they'll have bands for you at check in but you can just decline them and use the first set. HTH

Any band assigned to your account will work, even one from a previous trip.

Can use the first set of bands for the whole length of stay, no problem.

As for the room charge, ours has never shown any kind of detail as far as what band charged what to the room.

Isn't it stupid that they send you multiple bands? I actually had a 3 way split stay, do I got 3 bands one trip. Then dummy me, I accidentally packed my second band, and showed up to the second resort still wearing my band from the first resort. The CM just took my band and did some Mickey head to Mickey head "magic"(she was probably hoping I'd go "ooooh, how cool!") and voila! My first band worked for my second stay. Out of curiosity, I tried this again on my third "leg" and sure enough it worked. So I flew home the proud owner of two, brand new, unused Magic Bands, and a third that I'd used for the entire trip.
