Going to Disney in March. Some of my party has Magic Bands from a previous stay...some do not. When I go to my reservation online, it wants me to order new Magic Bands for everyone.

I don't want new ones for my DD and I as we have already linked our AP's to the ones we currently have.

There is no option to just order ones for the members of our party that don't have them already.

What should I do? I'm just looking to not have to spend a ton of time there trying to fix Magic Band issues.

Thanks for any advice!

1- Yes.

2- You MUST order new ones. The new ones WILL have your AP's connected to them.

3- You MUST order new bands, but BOTH the new set and old set will work for your trip.
They will be identical with what they can access.

4- I'm not saying that you will or won't have MB problems, that is a whole other situation,
but if you continue to use your old bands (which you can do) you may or may not have problems
with just doing that.
Sorry.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info to be read, when needed.

Thanks Robo! :thumbsup2

As a family we make lots of 1 and 2 night trips during the year...we sure are going to have a large "file" and lots of Magic Bands!

Our situation was a bit different. We ordered, received & used our first Magic Bands in November. I linked the 7 remaining days of our 10-day no expiration tickets to them. We are going back next month and when I went to order our new Magic Bands (in different colors from November) I had to first deactivate our old bands. I'm guessing that is because we had the final 2 days of the no expiration tickets remaining.

1- Never heard of doing that.

2- Nope.

Likely just another glitch.

You probably won't have any trouble using your original bands. We've used our original set for three different reservations without any major issues. I think I had to reset the PIN on mine once at the start of a trip. Took an extra thirty seconds at the front desk.

I've never heard of anyone having to do this. I have several sets and have never had to deactivate any of them. They're all active.

If you order them in advance of your trip do they mail them to you or are they at the resort when you arrive?:yay:

As long as you are in the US and you customize ahead of time, they mail them to you in advance. Usually a little over 30 days before your trip.

Nothing is linked to the bands. Everything is linked to your MDEx profile. Your bands simply read that information. Guests may have up to 8 MBs linked to their account at any given time. They will all read the same information in that guest's profile.

We just returned from a 3-resort, 14-day stay. I now have all seven colors of MBs and all worked flawlessly throughout our stay. We had no issues with park entry, FP+ redemption, room access, PhotoPass+ or anything else.
