Magic Bands at DL?

Is DL using Magic Bands yet, or is that just at WDW? If they aren't, is the FP system working the same as in years past? We are headed there this weekend, and it's been four years since we've been. I'd appreciate the info!

Just note that DLR is enforcing FP return times (like WDW did before they went to the FP+ system).

I hope they don't implement the Magic Bands at DL. I prefer the "old school" paper FP's. One area where the Magic Bands might be convenient is for southern CA-resident AP holders...they could have a special entrance for those folks so they just flash their Magic Band and walk right in. But I hope that IF they implement Magic Bands at DL, that they don't include the FP reservation thing.

I could live with the FP being linked to your Magic Band, where you'd go up to a kiosk and it assigns your FP to your Magic Band right there on the fly. I'd be fine with that...just so long as they don't do FP reservations at DL.

WDW gets a lot more out-of-towner visitors than DL does. A bulk of DL's regular business is southern CA residents, who (just an assumption here) by and large will likely not want to make a reservation to go on a ride. They want to go on a couple of rides in the evening after work, grab a quick bite to eat in the parks and go home.

I agree, that I hope the magic bands do not come to the California parks. Scheduling far in advance what rides I would like to go on at what times, seems less fun than wandering around the parks and doing things spontaneously.

I don't mind the magic bands so much.
They are convenient.
But they lack the ability to really keep all the needed information linked to the account, meaning one still has to carry an ID card, and a DVC card, if one wants the associated discounts.
If they could really attach all the needed info to the Magic Band account, then it would be worth the slight discomfort of wearing it.

Now combine this magic band with the old fast pass system, so instead of having a paper fast pass, we scan our magic band as we collect our fast pass, and it gets recorded.

But even the advanced fast pass selection was not too bad. It had advantages and disadvantages.

We recently went to WDW for the 1st time as we have always gone to DL previously.
We used the magic bands and found them fine to work with.
I'm still hoping they don't introduce it at DL as I think the current system works fine as it is. I think they will though but not sure when.
By the way it's DL all the way for us from now on, had to try WDW but it's not a touch on Anaheim in our opinion.

I am really against the magic bands and fastpass plus ideas. There's too much valuable information which can be gathered by Disney and I don't trust what they will do with that info. It's not just names and addresses or emails, but patterns, schedules, time measurements, tendencies...all which can be numerically and statistically useful for Disney to make more money and profits.
