Magic bands and two ressies

We have a package starting on a Saturday with dining and tickets so we are customizing and using those bands but we also have a room only ressie for two nights prior to that at the same hotel. We do want to pick up our tickets early but do we need to use those bands also? I don't want to end up with more than we need or show up at a park with the wrong one. thanks.

You can use the bands interchangeably. Nothing is "on" a Magic Band - they're just a means to access what's in your MDE account.

Magic bands are interchangeable.
You can use whichever one you want.
If you'd rather not receive both sets then decline one of them.

ok thanks everyone. I just was afraid if I had two sets I would end up having to keep track of which was which.

You don't need to keep track of which is which, some people like having color choice options to color coordinate with their outfit. (yes I have a daughter). You can opt out of getting one of the sets, the option would be when you customize it you can select the opt out option. Now there are some cases where peopel accidently opt out of getting any bands so the option may not appear but if you really don't want 2 sets of bands, call up disney and they can help you decline 1 set.

There are a few obscure differences between bands that I've come across and not quite figured out. The one I can remember is that I've had one of my bands work to open the security gate at my resort but not another, but as the others have said, they are almost identical in their function.
(And if you want to use multiple bands to create multiple Test Track designs, you can do that as well, since that system is fully separate from MyDEx.)

We swapped out bands for a split stay. There were no issues. Any band worked.
