My family and I are headed to Disney in August we haven't been since August of 2012. We are thinking about purchasing the memory maker. Will we need to purchase a magicband? Will a magicband be included? We are staying offsite.

A magic band will not be included. To take full advantage you would need one magic band so that the pictures and videos from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train would be included plus the video from Tower of terror. Everything else you would be able to obtain without a magic band by tapping your rfid enabled ticket to the reader under your ride photos.

You don't purchase PhotoPass - PhotoPass is the photo-taking service, which is free. What you purchase is Memory Maker.

So if I buy the memory maker I can have videos as well?
We are not staying inside Disney so no magic band.

On both Tower of Terror and Seven Dwarfs you get a picture and a video that includes some footage from the ride. I'm not sure if the ToT one will show up without the long range rfid from a band and there is no way to claim your 7D pictures as there is no photo counter. If you buy one band for your family and make sure whoever is on the ride has the band for those two they would be added to your account.

Magic bands make a big difference since it allows you to not carry a wallet, room key, etc.

You can purchase one for around $12.95 and I believe they can link it.

But isnt MB only for Disney hotel guests?

I just read in a post from last year that single pics range around $ 15.
Maybe I should pass the MM this time and see how kids will do in the pics.

It's $12.95 for a basic band and you'd only need one if you want the videos or the 7D photo/video. It doesn't affect any other MM offering. I think the product is definitely worth it if you're staying for more than a couple of days or are willing to stop for lots of pics.

Can MM and MB be purchased from a Disney vacation account?
If so are they elegible purchase for the $ 20 gift card ?

I agree with previous post. To take full advantage of Memory Maker, you need a Magic Band. The videos you get from Tower of Terror, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Dinosaur in AK are absolutely wonderful. They are tied to your Magic Band. If you don't have a Magic Band, you must pull your Memory Maker card (small credit card type) out each time a photographer takes your picture. With a Magic Band, you just hold out your wrist. Very convenient. I have always purchased Memory Maker and truly love each and every photo. The cost is totally worth it for my family.
