Magic Band Transfer

Okay, so I recently bought an AP and it is yet to be activated. I know you won't have the AP holder magic band for your first visit to the park (magic band orders are available to be customized upon activation), so I was planning on just bringing an old magic band from my past trips. It's under my name, and I'm not staying on-site. Will my annual pass be able to be temporarily used from my old magic band, or will I have to go without it this time and just use the card? I gotta admit, I'd feel a bit left out roaming the park without a band. I'm used to staying in resorts on site

Any guidance is appreciated! I know magic bands can be a pretty confusing topic.

All the bands do is serve as a connection to your account... there's nothing stored on the bands themselves, so you can use any band interchangeably as long as it belongs to you.

The PP is right. Your AP will be on your MDE account. All that any of your magic bands do is access what is on your account. They dont have any of that kind of information actually stored in them. So any magic band that you own will work.

Great, thanks a bunch! That really clears it up to me. I always imagined the bands having the passes physically having the tickets on them. This makes it so much easier to understand. Gladly appreciate it the help guys

Just bring the annual pass card with you if you want to get the annual pass holder discounts-They may be able to scan the Magic band for parking (free for annual pass holders) but you have to show the discount card (I read you get it when you order your annual pass magic band) or your annual pass ticket and ID to get the shop/restaurant discounts-you can use the magic band to enter parks and for fast pass though no problem (we just upgraded last week and only used the annual pass card to get our free posters at SWW at DHS)
