Anyone who has been using the new Magic Band Plus, is it worth it?

I guess it depends on what “worth it“ means to you. As someone who already had a MB from my cancelled 2020 trip, buying another band was probably stupid, but I did it anyway. I go next week and will report back, but no, I don’t think it will be worth the $35+ I spent on it. The only things I know it does right now is make the statues talk with varying degrees of success, play the Batuu Bounty game, and light up a little for fireworks.

I think it will be more fun at some point, but it’s too early. Also I really hate that I have to charge it before I can use it, which is going to complicate my first day a tiny bit. I really don’t want one more thing to charge.

Only you can decide that. I've watched a number of Utubers use it and it probably depends if you like to play the little games in Batu. Personally, I don't think so and had no intention of getting one since I currently own at least 20 of a combination of the original and new puck type. However, I have a resort stay in August and you can get $10 off if you buy one in advance. They had a tinkerbell one. It's the only Tinkerbell MB I've seen so I caved. I have no intention of using the "features" I'm not even sure I'll charge it since it doesn't need to be charged to be used as just a MB to get into the parks.

I have a feeling, many people are more interested in the new designs rather than the interactive features.

I think for kids is a no brainer.

For adults, it depends. I only have one magicband from 4 years ago. I bought it mainly to get something new with a nice design. Probably won't use any of the new features.

I agree with that.
In April I’ll be there with my parents (my father’s absolute first time!) and I would have loved to buy them the “dad”/“mom” bands, that was the main reason I wanted it for them.
But, at the end of the day, I know that they would have never used the “plus” activities and spending 34 dollar for some lights during fireworks was a bit…useless…
So I got one for me and two normal ones for me.

If you don’t have a regular magic band already, the cost difference isn’t that much compared to a decorated magic band, especially if you go to a solid one. Otherwise no…. However, even though I have my magic bands from my trip last year, my lemming self bought magic band + anyway. I wanted the 50th band and wanted to play around with the features myself. I figure it will last for several trips and hopefully in the future there will be more to do with them.

Interested in this too- I am more intrigued by the statues than the Batuu games- will be curious to hear how others’ experiences are- so far I have heard it is hit and miss.

I just read this article that addresses your question. The family used the MB+ and reported on their experience. Bottom line is that they enjoyed using them, but they said others may or may not think it is worth it. I really think, as others have stated, that the future features may make it more worth it than it is today. Personally, I just love the styles and that makes it worth it for me. I am excited to get the 50th bands. They won't be around forever!

As others said, worth it will depend on the person. None of the interactive features it has now get me too fired up, but DW thinks it's super cool and can't wait to wave at the statues and stuff. But I'm a sucker for trying out new tech and we got the pre-arrival discount so I ordered one too. Will try it out when we visit in Sep. I think it has potential for them to add some cool interactive stuff going forward, especially for kids, and I think they will.

I don't love the idea of more stuff to worry about charging, but that's modern life I guess :)

We were in Epcot the day of release so my kids were really excited to get them first thing. Are they worth it? Probably not. It was fun to see them light up during the fireworks and to hear "some" of the statues. Of course the day we went to Hollywood Studios Rise was down most of the day so we didn't spend any time in Galaxy's Edge to try them out.

I have watched enough vlogers to know this is not on our list of things to spend money on. Waving my arms in front of a statue to make it make some noise is not for me.

I watch the shows, not my wrist. especially when there are 4 other people trying to do it at the same time as me. See no value in that.

The bounty hunter game looks dumb.

Will the battery charging ability help with the long range photopass photos for rides. I have old bands I use but the long range doesn’t work anymore the internal battery has died. If I can just recharge this new one for the photos to be linked every trip over the years I can buy this one and not worry about getting a new one for a long time.

There is a Tinkerbell Magicband 2, but it's nowhere near as cute as the + version in my opinion

This is my question too. I don't care about the interactive features at all but I would buy a Magicband+ if the rechargeable battery means I won't have to worry about the long range ride photos feature no longer working.

Half of our family was using bands from 2019 or earlier so the batteries for the long range photos were dead. To us it was a nominal difference between the pre arrival price of a new regular band and the +. I know my kids will get a kick out of the lights. If we didn’t need new bands I would have probably waited.

In theory it should help with that, but in actual practice who knows. We should be getting more reports from people using them in the coming days

Yeah I'm not getting one right away so I am reading other people's feedback to see whether this is worth getting or not. The battery life in terms of ride photos is the deciding factor for me rather than the interactive stuff.
