Magic at PC

I booked the magic for end of September 2025, I see in October it goes to San Juan and then to Galveston. Any chance it will be back to PC, as that is really the only port I want to sail out of. I also prefer April, November and December. I’ll just have cruised on the treasure in April 2025 so wanted something further out. Any thoughts on this, I have read many speculations about the magic. I guess I will just sit on this reservation while I think about it.

Magic 8 ball - will the Magic be homeported in PC in 2025 and beyond?

I think your answer comes from the middle column.

By then all 3 Wish class ships will be in play. Fantasy may be in Europe Summer 2026. Destiny should be doing its 5-5-4 rotation out of PE.

Wish and Treasure get PC. That’s once a week for the Treasure (Sat or Sun). Twice a week for the Wish (Fri and Mon).

That leaves Magic and Dream (or maybe Fantasy) to find homeports.

I don’t think they keep ships at Galveston or New Orleans during the Summer, due to Hurricanes.

At what point does the initial interest in combining CC and Lookout Cay wane? Or does it? That’s the current Bahamian cruise listing for Magic.

The buzz around cruising is that cruise lines are building up and adding new private destinations. This keeps the money in their own pocket and control over the cruise experience. They don’t have to be concerned with the pushback they are getting from various ports.

(Seems Disney is essentially doing that with the Magic out of Port Everglades. DCL started the company with 3- and 4-day cruises to the Bahamas. It still is the bread and butter for them. You may not get PC for a home port, though.)

I think Royal is experimenting with the concept of all-out weekend cruise in a new ship.

They are also building a day-use resort on the slender peninsula you see when docked at Nassau.

It’s a transition time for the industry. That includes Disney, as they bring on new ships.

My Magic 8 ball says “Cannot predict now.” DCL has their own - it’s just telling us “Ask again later.”

This is the question everyone has been wondering....

I think it will come down to capacity....

It seems to me if they can make Wish, Treasure, and Fantasy work out of PC, they don't need the Magic...

PE I recall will have two ships per the agreement- so Destiny and Dream seem most likely?

Is San Diego profitable enough for that to be a homeport for the Magic for the final few years? Or do they send it to another region entirely? We have heard DCL wants to enter new markets....

It is interesting that Wonder and Magic itineraries end earlier than the rest of the itineraries available in 2026.... No idea what that means, but it has been cause for speculation.

Thanks for all your input, I really do learn a lot from you. My DH says we should just keep it scheduled because it seems like when we change our plans things go haywire and should have kept what we had planned in the first place. Like losing our placeholder for the treasure.

I was trying to find the magic for 2026 and no luck. I guess if I want to sail on the destiny I may have to try PE or wait some years to do so, if it ever comes to PC even for a short time.

Yeah, I think PC is extremely unlikely to get the Destiny for a while, if ever. It seems like the Destiny was part of DCL's long term commitment at PE, if not exactly spelled out as much.

Thank you.

I’ll throw this out there as a PSA: Placeholder reservations can be changed / modified without losing the benefit. Ship, dates, 2nd or more guests (just need to keep lead guest the same) can all be different. Just have to start your cruise by the 24 month after purchase - exact day.

How important is PC and how important is the Magic?

Would you really not consider Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) for the Magic? I am quite excited to have that option over PC due to the closeness of the cruise port to the airport.

I’m not making any recommendations, as I don’t want to be blamed if you changed your plans and it all went horribly wrong.

….but you are booked in peak hurricane season. 🤔🫢

I do believe in following your instincts!

So many things to think about. I told my DH that PE has its own dedicated Disney terminal and I bet it’s probably as easy to do as PC. But if you want to add days at WDW, then PC it is. I have sailed in October before and the weather was dreary, we shall see about September.
Well when the treasure dates came out it wasn’t going to work out to use the placeholder within the 24 months, because of the timing of Easter. I sure wasn’t going to pay those prices. So stupid me I canceled the placeholder.
Then my DD calls and she and DH want to go on the treasure at an early time, hence I could have used the placeholder on that cruise. I’ve learned my lesson to just hold on to it, because you never know.

The Magic hasn't sailed from Port Canaveral since like 2016, so I feel like it's a rare opportunity to have those sailings in 2025.

Right now, the last Magic sailing known to the public is a Panama Canal cruise in April 2026. I could see a couple things happening.

- Magic does a rare summertime Mexican Rivera season; Wonder stays in Alaska for the summer; then after that, Magic back east and Wonder back to Australia to resume normal schedules.
- Magic goes up to Alaska; Wonder either does the rare MR season or comes back east for a summer; then they basically flip schedules so that the Magic is the one going to Australia
- Both stay out West as they start to ride off into the sunset

Others may be more in tune with industry trends, inside info, etc. but those are my guesses.

I’m almost certain that when the Wonder started to do Alaska cruises they had to do something with her hull to Alaska proof her. I don’t know if the Magic has this. If they did

I think the Magic will stay on the West coast in the summer and do short 3/4n sailings and come back to Galveston maybe in October time. If you look at the Wonder schedule, her schedule runs until the first week of May so she can head back up to Alaska after that.

Wow I did not know that, this may be my only time to sail the magic from PC. I’m leaning toward keeping this reservation now.
