OK, stupid question here - is the Magic at anchor in the picture, and if so, does that mean folks are tendering in? How often do you tender vs. dock at the Eastern POCs?

i think if you tender depends on who arrives first. Since the Magic must sail all the way from St. Maarten, I think it is one of the last to arrive. At least that was so on the eastern cruise I was on. Now on the 10 day we were the first to arrive, meaning we didn't have to tender and we were docked.

Cruise Ship Scheduled for WED 26; Looks like the Magic made port first at 6:30 by the below schedule.

It does look as though they are tendering in, I'm curious also on if this happens often at St. Thomas?

Great link! However, the February and March (and beyond) pages appear to be for 2004, not 2005. Don't know if they simply didn't update the year or if the entries are still for 2004.

jhorstma oops sorry about that. I totally missed the 2004 date :badpc:

BTW the Magic is on the move right now.

The Magic usually tenders in the winter months, when there are more ships in the Caribbean (many go to Alaska or Europe in the spring). DCL used to be able to dock more often, but since they now only call at St. Thomas every other week, I think they've dropped in the pecking order a bit.

I don't think it's a first-come, first served thing. The ships have to schedule far in advance and have to provide a passenger list 4 days prior to arriving. I also don't think it matters where the ship has come from. On the eastern, you'll often see the same ships in port at both St. Maarten and St. Thomas. It's actually not that far from St. Maarten to St. Thomas, probably less than 200 miles. The ship is usually waiting offshore until the port opens.

Bye Bye Magic. She is on her way out in that picture. Too bad there are no cameras at CC.

What cool pictures!!

We were at the dock when I went 9/2003. I have only tender at Grand Cayman.
