Magic “Double Dip” November 11, 2006 Day 1

My DH Tom and I booked this cruise when we were aboard the Magic Eastern Cruise :boat: on 11/13/04.
Our friends, Hannosmom, Hannosdad, chichi honey and DISsis Deb also rebooked and we are traveling together.
DH and I left NYC on Friday evening after an easy drive in the HOV lane on the LIE from Long Island to LaGuardia Airport.
Our flight was to leave at 8:30 pm but we did not take off until after 9.
Our flight was full and we did not have seats together. Arrived at MCO after 11 (with all our luggage!) – I had already told the Hanno’s’ we wouldn’t call if we arrived late.
We stayed at the airport Marriott which has recently been remodeled and was VERY nice – called for the shuttle after we got our luggage and they picked us up within 10 minutes...we had requested to have rooms near each other – we were right next door.

On Saturday morning, we got up at 7:15 – met the Hanno’s’ in their room around 8:15ish and called for a Bellman.
Did I mention that my buddies are not the lightest of traveler’s and had QUITE a few bags???
Thanks to their kindness, DH did not have to stop on the way to the port for his adult beverages in green bottles…he just loaded them into his rolling cooler.
We were driving to the port by 8:45 and ended up stopping for a quick bite at the McDonald’s at Port Canaveral – that was a REALLY bad meal – even the coffee was bad….just setting us up for a week of good eating on the Magic.

Wonder where this bus is going?

We arrived at the port between 10 and 10:30 and were able to park in the first row of the lot right near the drop-off area. After the bomb/drug sniffing dog finished doing their job, we started walking toward the terminal entrance.
The first people we met were the Alisbarc kids – mom and dad had dropped them off and were parking the car.
The youngest guy had to admit that even thought this was his third (or fourth?) cruise, he only remembered one….we promised him we would help him remember this one!

We met DISers online as we went thru security and even though we were early, I received Group 6….Huh?
Oh well, nothing was going to change my good mood.
The Hannos went to the “C” class check-in and we went to the Castaway Club line – which was really kind of long.
Our check-in went smoothly, I couldn’t find my boarding number and the nice CM gave me Group 2 (sorry Dee :thumbsup2 ) and we were soon waiting with our friends – and trying to check out the other DISsers.
Since it is easy to spot people wearing Lime Green Feather Boas, we were able to find each other quickly.

Even though this was my third cruise as a “DISser” – I met SO many people on this trip.
I apologize if I missed anybody

faireygod mother, Pooh Luvs Figment, WendyJersey, Marmadukes son and ALL their relatives in the terminal with red shirts.
cjsmom97 and CJLKIM from our last cruise.
Dizney-Cruiser and her Dsis – my scrapbook/circle journal buddies!
Jaypd at the DIS lunch – hello fellow Long Islander
Woody73 and the lovely Mrs. Woody – thanks for the fun pirate cartoons
Ibouncetoo and tiggersPal – easy to spot with those boas.
Suzadrew… she walked up to me with my picture in hand – yup, that’s me!
Clynne & Brent – fun chatting by the goofy pool
The ‘infamous’ Vanvmom and dad
Mom2of2 with the pork packing momma
Txaggie94gigem – the best DIS tag organizer (I didn’t play!)
Miatamel
Michelle9343, Vito and her fabulous family
Spotdude and DW – Great ears!
Shelwoj and Wojo – Hot Tub!
Alisbarc and DW and the GREATEST kidlets around.
Mrs. Greenjeans and dragonflydreaming and several lurkers who recognized my DIS tag/bracelet in the elevators

At approximately 11:50 they started boarding the concierge passengers – as we made plans to meet up with our friends later, a cast member came over to us and said, ‘since there is only 2 of you, please board with your friends’.
We thanked him and joined our friends on the line. We posed for our picture, crossed the gangway and were in the lobby.
I LOVE to hear them announce our name and number of cruises we have taken.

Pat00134.jpg

I proceeded to Rockin’ Bar D and changed my PALO reservation. I then joined the Hanno’s and my DH in Sessions where they were making their spa reservations.
I had pre-booked my spa and PALO and excursion so I was all set.
We then went up to Parrot Cay for some lunch – and it was good.
We were starting to relax and get into the cruise mode – I was so excited the past 24 hours I needed to wind down a little.
Did I mention that DH woke me up Friday morning singing “It’s A Small World After All”??? Shhhhh, don’t mention that I told you, okay!

We headed down to our cabin – 6534 category 6 on deck 6 forward.
We were right next to the forward elevators and this proved to be a great location. Less crowded to ride up and down and a quick walk up for fun and down for food!
We put on our swimsuits and hit the hot tub – nice and warm.
Pat00357.jpg

But wait, it was time for the DIS meet….run to the Promenade Lounge which was packed with DISsers – we arrived a little late and before we knew it, it was time for Life Boat Drill…new, improved Life Vests made it easier but we had a HOT location.
We returned to our cabin, dropped off the vests and headed up to the sail away party.
We stayed up on deck 10 starboard side where we met Dizney-cruiser Janice and her sister Linda…took a few photos, had a beer (not me!), watched the sail away show, waved goodbye to Port Canaveral and then went to visit our hannosfriends in their beautiful Cat 3 midship suite – and wow was it nice!

Is that Chip n Dale??? The STARS of the show, oops, there's Mickey, too!

Tom, Sarah and I decided to go to the ‘All Aboard! Let the Magic Begin!” show at 6:15 in the Walt Disney Theatre.
It was very entertaining and put us in a magic-al mood.
Back to the cabin to unpack a little and then we went for late seating 8:00pm dinner at Animators’ Palate.
This is my least favorite of all the restaurant’s onboard – a little claustrophobic feeling - but we had a nice meal with our friends.
Our waiters were Dennis and Christian and they took good care of us all week at table 55. It was nicely located in the dining room – not up against the wall but not right in the middle either.
We finished by 9:40 but we were tired after a very full day. We arranged to meet for breakfast in the Hannos suite at 8:30 and then head out for our first stop at Castaway Cay.

Terrific report and pictures (Hey, I recognize those smiles anywhere!). Looking forward to more.

Woody

The woman in lime green in your chip and dale photo is my good friend and neighbor (and fellow boa wearer) Lysa. She really was having a good time, but the sun was in her eyes (per my DS who was standing right next to her but just outside of the photo).

Yeah! Another trip report from my cruise-mates! I LOVE hearing was everybody was doing during the week. I may actually turn up in this one :thumbsup2

I see you Wendy.....get back to work on your report!

Day 2 – Sunday, November 12th - Castaway Cay & PALO

We woke up to a bright sunny morning – and had to remind ourselves we were on a ship.
It was smooth sailing as we approached Castaway Cay for the FIRST of 2 stops.
The Captain easily backed the ship into the berth and we were there!

Pat00379Sharp.jpg

We joined our Hannos friends Ed, Linda, Debbie and Sarah for breakfast in their suite.
It faced the dock so we watched all the preparation by the crew as we waited for the all ashore.
We disembarked around 9:15 and started taking pictures – it is so beautiful it is hard not to!
An added attraction was the Flying Dutchman pirate: anchored right next to the Magic.

Here is Ed, I am adding him in as he was ALWAYS taking pictures!
EdsHead.jpg

IMG_3809.jpg

We headed to Serenity Cove after a quick stop to buy Sarah yet another set of Mickey sand toys – :grouphug:
I figured I would do my shopping on Friday –
this proved to be a mistake as there were very few Adult size T-Shirts left when I went later in the week.
I happened to see Pluto by Mt Rushmore and stopped for a picture – he bumped me with his whiskers after our picture – or was it a kiss  ?

Pat00056.jpg

We spent a VERY relaxing day on the beach – I had a sip of my first ever Konk Kooler (thanks Linda) which is one powerful drink –
Linda, Ed, Debbie and I went snorkeling off the adult beach and saw many fish –
Debbie saw an ‘attack’ fish :fish: and ran out of the water – oh well!
Tom decided he needed to spend quality time on a hammock.

Pat00061a.jpg

We went up for lunch and met Janice and Linda –
they had been parasailing with Jackie and Peggy – ibouncetoo :tigger: & TiggersPal :tigger: – and said it was a great adventure.
I think I will add that to my ‘To Do’ list for my repo cruise next year.
Back to the beach for more relaxing before we returned to the ship – we were going to PALO for dinner at 7.
We walked along the tram path so we could get a better picture of the Flying Dutchman.

Pat00053a.jpg

I was not sad leaving Castaway Cay as I knew we would be back in a few days.

Serenity Bay Beach - Heavenly!
Pat00059a.jpg

I finished unpacking and got ready for our PALO dinner :yay: .
Sarah was going to eat dinner with Jackie and Peggy.
We arrived at 7 and were escorted to our table. We saw Alek from Croatia who had been our server in 2005 – such a lovely person.
He had originally told us he was leaving the ship but his plans changed – he married his sweetheart and they were both going to remain on the ship for a little longer.
This evening we were served by Annie-Marie who was delightful.
The food and ambiance was wonderful as always…we did not finish until after 9 and my travel companions were tired :rolleyes1 …….what the heck is this!
I was afraid my husband would develop bed sores….but off to bed we went….tomorrow, our first day at sea :boat:.

Excellent report so far!!!! Great pictures. I also love your Chip and Dale pictures in you sig. So cute!!!! Vito Jr had a really cute pin to give you on the ship but forgot. We will have to mail it to you unless you will be coming to WDW anytime soon.

 Lovin' the trip report! And this means I don't have to do one, :teeth: because mine would sound just like yours, except for Cozumel day.

The pictures are wonderful, especially that CC one. I do believe there may be a second career in the future for you. You've got the "eye" for beauty.

Day 3 – Monday, November 13th - At Sea, ‘Alone Time’ in the Spa, PALO Brunch and Formal Night.

Did I mention my husband was going to bed early – so that means for me that I was awake early….because there is only so much sleep one can get when cruising. I had a spa appointment at 8 am for my “Along Time” in the spa villa with PALO brunch at 11….so I left my DH in bed and was walking around deck 10 at 7:15 – boy is it beautiful up there on a sea :sunny: day! White fluffy clouds :cloud9: , warm breeze….and brunch isn’t until 11…Hmmm, I thin I will try Topsiders. I had gone for lunch on a 4 day cruise several years ago and hadn’t been back since. I had found it noisy and crowded. Not this morning – I got my Cream of Wheat and was going to sit outside but instead ran into chichi honey Sarah having breakfast inside. I joined her – and admired her Mickey waffle….and got to the Vista Spa before 8am. After filling out a form, I met my therapist and was lead to the villa that was the farthest forward. No locker room for me – you change right in the villa. We discussed my treatment options and I chose to have a salt scrub and a half a body massage – the half of the body that is massaged is your back so this was all perfect for me. We also discussed my hot tub time and although I had brought a bathing suit, I was given the option of going without. And that’s what I did…..
She left me alone to change into my robe and I was to take a seat out on the deck in the chair. She then soaked my feet and washed and massaged my lower legs – after that, I was invited to get into the hot tub…..it was sooooooo relaxing just laying in the tub for about 20 minutes and watching the ocean and sky – there was several options of additives to put into the tub, I chose 2 different ‘things’ based on the scents that I liked….I then got out, put my robe back on and relaxed on the big double lounger.
My therapist came back and I then went into the villa for my scrub and wrap – kinda like a baked potato! It was actually very nice to be exfoliated and after being covered with a warm towel for a short time, I was invited to go into the outdoor shower. Now THAT was nice – and then back on the table for my massage…..HEAVEN. After the massage, I was back on the lounger for some tea and fresh fruit – this was a 2 hour treatment and I am working “double, triple, secret overtime” to be able to do this again on my Repo cruise next August.

Totally relaxed, I floated out of the spa and called my wonderful husband – we walked around deck 4 several times – there is lots of interesting stuff on this ship - and then joined Linda, Ed and Debbie for brunch at PALO. Alek from Croatia was our server and he took wonderful care of us as always. I just LOVE the seafood portion of this meal, we ordered a specialty pizza for the table – it has fantastic – I didn’t order an entrée – and then we all moved on to the desserts! WOW – were they great! I especially liked that that the desserts were all served in small portions – so you could try several different kinds – in fact I would love it if they would serve the desserts in the main dining rooms this way.
It is wonderful to be in PALO in the daytime and enjoy the beautiful vistas from so high up on the ship.

We finished by 1pm – and did I mention we missed the Castaway Club party? This used to be a nice late afternoon reception with cocktails and yummy appetizers served in the Rockin D Bar – but now it is a daytime event (11am???) with soda and a few prizes – too bad! Also, we were told there were 1100 out of 2200 passengers that were return cruisers which could also be why they are ‘simplifying’ the party.

Tom and I decided to spend the afternoon at the Quiet Cove Pool – hot tub actually!

Pat00357-1.jpg

The tubs were heated just right – but I did end up going in the pool to cool off. The captains reception was tonight but we opted to stay up on deck until after 5pm – and then I remembered I wanted to re-book – I met Linda on deck 4 – we were the third people online but it took more then an hour to get rebooked….I went to my cabin, got changed and met up with Sarah & Tom to see the Golden Mickeys – we had seen this the last time we were onboard and really enjoyed it. Since we stayed on deck so late, we missed the ‘pre-show’ and ran in to get seats right at 6:15pm. It was just as good as we remembered. After the show, we went to our room to shower and change for dinner – the Captains Reception was at 7:15 but I missed that in order to get ready for dinner. Luckily, when Linda and I were waiting online to rebook, we had Cosmopolitans from the 5:15pm Captains Reception!!! It was time for our Formal Night Dinner at Lumiere’s – my favorite restaurant on the ship – dinner was delicious and I had a Mickey Bar for dessert.

Pat00140ed.jpg

We all looked very fabulous in our BEST clothes – but everyone was pooped again….so off to our stateroom by 10pm – and don’t forget to set your clock BACK – a extra hour tonight – and we will be in Costa Maya in the morning….. :thumbsup2

Yeah! Thanks for the latest installment. In case you haven't seen it, there is a very nice picture of you and I from formal night on Linda's web site! :thumbsup2 I was very glad to see it, as our professional pictures from that night were a big BUST!
