Mag Memories pkg - uprade to Dx later?

All the math is annoying me a little. So I really want to just book our package for early Sept. with the free dining (regular DDP) to make sure I have it.

Would it be difficult to upgrade to the DxDP later? If I decide to do that, would I need to do it before the 45 day window, so it's not considered a change with a fee or anything?

I realize the DxDP is a lot of food, but it would only cost us $264 extra and with several signatures we'd like to do, that's about worth it right there.

We never do packages b/c of the cancellation policy, so I may be a Disney vet but not a DP vet.

Historically, you can upgrade "free dining" packages like the Magical Memories offer. No reason to suspect that you can't.

You can actually upgrade up to 3 days prior to check-in. Normally, the $50 package change fee is waived for package upgrades, however, changes in the last week (or is it two weeks? I never remember...) do have an extra $15 change fee that does not get waived, even for upgrades.

So, practically, if you're going to do the upgrade at least 2 weeks before check-in, you should be able to do so at no extra cost.
