OK, I'm getting conflicting reports. I read here on the dis in a thread that while the guidebooks state that there is no height requirement for Norway's ride Maelstrom, CMs reserve the right to deny boarding to any under age 3. I called Disney yesterday and they searched their database and told me it said no height requirement so it shouldn't be a problem. Problem is, I trust the Dis more! Any more info on this? We leave in 6 days (whoo-hoo). And if this IS true...does that go for POTC as well seeing it has that little drop in the beginning?
Thank you Thank you Thank you! :wizard:

I've never seen any posted height requirement for Maelstrom, and furthermore, we took our 12 month old ds on it (more than once, IIRC) last November/December! No one said a word, he was not in any danger whatsoever (and I am quite protective!), and I have never heard anything about the age limit until a month or so ago on The Dis. :confused3
We also took him on POTC, 3 or 4 times (my dad LOVED the ride, lol), and there was no posted height requirement or age limit or any sort of warning about babies or toddlers. He was fine and actually slept through a couple of the runs! Any ride on which you could breastfeed EASILY if you wanted to is not dangerous, in my book! :rotfl: HTH!

Thanks! I REALLY appreciate it! I'm going into super-psycho-last-minute-planning-frenzy! You guys are the best, as usual!

Hi! We just got back from WDW this past Thursday. I took our 2 year old on Maelstrom, and didn't see any signs posted about an age/height requirement. I saw several kids that looked much younger than my son getting on as well.
Just one word of caution though...it scared the crap out of my son. It's really dark, and the loud parts scared him. He's not a fan of the dark rides though. If your child does fine on POTC, I think they'd be fine on this one (we didn't even attempt POTC with our son after his reaction to this one).

My son has been riding Maelstrom since he was 6 weeks old. He is now 2 and no longer likes it. He hates the hills.

Last time we were there, we rode Maelstrom with my three year old and two year old, no questions asked. I was surprised to see an age requirement mentioned here on the DIS, because that wasn't our experience. We'll find out in a week. We're leaving Sat!

PrincessTigerLilly,

Cool! Where are you staying? Is this your first trip with a little one? You'll have a great time. We took our two little ones last time and then had a baby. This time we're going with all three, ages 5, 31/2, and 19 months. Have a great time! I know I can hardly wait, can you?!?

I am excited to see this! Much to my dismay, my 13 month old daughter loves to be scared! She likes it when my husband sneaks up behind her and yells "boo" so we will be joining you on the ride! We leave Friday! :yay: :yay:

Thanks everyone for your information! Is it true that you can no longer play on the viking ship?

yes, it's true. It was closed when we went the last week in August.

I dont' recall any children on the ride but it is very tame like going through small world.

When we were at Epcot on Saturday that was true, couldn't enter the viking boat. They put up a wall blocking the entrance.
