Made my reservations with AAA-- but I don't get it. Is this right?

OK, so we made our reservations with AAA and asked for 8 nights in a GV at the GF, a 7 day park hopper ticket and the dining plan for two adults. Sounds easy enough, right?

She came back with a total price including airfare and towncar transfers of $4777. It is considered regular season. Ick, but whatever. It's our honeymoon and we want to go.

But in looking at my reservation, no where does it say "Magic Your Way" or "Park Hopper Option." In fact, it says "7 day park hopper ticket." Are there still Park Hopper Tickets? I didn't think so.

Also, I had originally began with the disney reservation center trying to make a room-only reservation. Disney told me that I could get a much better rate with AAA if I booked a package (and not a room-only) with them. Disney quoted me a number that was around $3300, but when I called AAA, they told me $4777 (with airfare and transfers, so $4200 without).

Any ideas on what's going on? Does this look right to you?

I would recommend going through Small World Travel or Dreams Unlimited. They can give you your AAA discount, will keep an eye out for better codes/discounts and really know what they are talking about. My experience with AAA is that they don't always know all the ins and outs of a Disney vacation. I have used Small World Travel about 4 times now and love them, my agent Barbara has ALWAYS taken excellent care of us and saved us a TON of money. The thing is that they can recommend all kinds of special things, make your ps' and do all the work so you don't have to. Since what they do is Disney, they know Disney. At least give them a try. Many, many people on the disboards use these ta's and wouldn't book a Disney vacation without them.

Well if you go with AAA you can add the dining & keep your room discount. I think its 10% in regular season. I just did a quick addup & rounded off.
$2,751 GFGV w/discount + tax
475 2- 7 day PH
490 dining
$3,716 TOTAL

So that leaves $1,061 for Airfare & towncar which is really high for flying out of Chicago. What are your dates?

I don't know if you plan to go to Pleasure Island at night but you might want to add that to your passes. $45/pp gives you 5 options to use at water parks, disney quest or pleasure island.

Hi-- our plane tickets are only $425 for the both of us, and our town car is only $150. So it just doesn't make sense. I think I'll call today for sure. GRRRRR.

Nope, I just added it up:

GV at the GR is [($394 - 10%) + 11.5% tax] x 8 nights = $3163
Add in tickets, 8 day dining plan, airfare and towncar = $4777

Oh well. I was really hoping I'd be able to find a mistake!

Hopefully I'll get a package code or something. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Yes, its right. I read too quickly & saw the 7 day PH so I figured it with 7 nights at GF & 7 night meal plan.

AAA quotes also usually include trip insurance and chances are they have you with a towncar service that is charging, not ME. Call them back have have them list out exactly what the quote is for.

We went to AAA for our first cruise (didn't know about the DIS board at the time) and paid what they charged. I've since booked other cruises (some which were the same length, destination and cruise ship) with Dreams Unlimited and, even though it's been a few years since our first cruise, Dreams still comes back with a lower quote than we got with AAA. I've compared AAA prices with other resources and AAA is always higher. I would take Amy&Dan's recommendation and go a different route. I'm sure you'll find something cheaper.

Congratulations on your wedding. Hope you have a long and happy life together. :bride: :groom: :rose:

Has your agent checked flights from Rockford? We are further away from Rockford than Naperville (out towards Gurnee) but we saved $1500 flying Rockford to Orlando Sanford, the flights are direct. The flights to Orlando leave early and back to Rockford it's an evening flight so you get more magic. A couple of other benefits are that parking at the Rockford Airport is free, it's small so you can't possibly get lost and the "red caps" will not accept tips even if you try really hard. We used Orlando Sanford Transportation to and from the airport and I believe it was $150 round trip. They were right on time and very friendly and professional. Maybe that can help you save $$$.
