Made my FP+ Selections Last Night

Here's my opinion on how it went:

I was VERY excited to get to do this, but by the end I was kind of over it.

First of all as I was doing it the fact that I was picking out where I was going to have to be at what moment for a good portion of my day really sank in. That kind of sucked all the fun out of it. And I'm an obsessive planner.

I got our first day (Epcot) scheduled easily. I wanted no times that it gave me, but it was very easy to change them to times that I did want once I was done picking them. I don't understand why it makes me pick times I DON'T want before I can pick times I DO want, it seems like it would just be easier to let me pic the times I actually want and save a step. Or three.

Second day, AK and HS didn't go as smoothly. While trying to schedule FP+ for HS for the late afternoon/early evening the whole thing crashed. I was in the middle of trying to adjust the times (because again my only options were for times that I didn't want) and I think the internet exploded. When I got it back up again I was worried because when I would go to that day it would say I had nothing scheduled, but would then not let me schedule anything because I already had things scheduled. When what I had scheduled finally appeared one of my daughters was somehow not eligible for a fast pass that day. I finally gave up on using my tablet and switched to the PC, where my original selections and times were showing and everyone was eligible and I was able to make changes.

Our MK days were easy to set up (except for convincing my husband that seeing Belle when you have 9 and 7 year old daughters IS actually a "must do").

All in all it was not the most horrible thing I've ever had to do, but it could have been made a lot easier by letting me select the times that I wanted from an available list rather than making me choose times I don't want to begin with and go back for each ride and change them individually. It also was less fun for this planner than I thought it would be because I've literally had to analyze every minute of our park days and get ugly stares from my husband whose middle name is "Fly By the Seat of Your Pants".

I will be doing my in a few days. I was planning to use the web site via my tablet because the app just seems a little too erratic for me at this point. Sounds like that might be a good idea now.

Just a little worried now since DH doesn't like the fast rides, so he will be riding some others without us. So I need to schedule him for different ones.

lol, I have to tell you... I was very excited to make my selections and now I look at them constantly lol.

I've gone in moved and changed them like a crazy person. I guess it just adds another level to my crazy obsessive pre planning. Trying to make them "perfect". But of course when we get down there I'm sure my children (and husband) will throw in a couple of wrenches..should be interesting!

Is there a list of all attractions/meals/meet and greets that are on the FP+ program so that you can try and plan before the 60 day mark?

I can see how planning your FP+ and ADRs together in advance of booking days would be crucial.

Honestly, this is a last minute trip in terms of DIsney. We didn't even know we were going until last week, and that was 37 days out and we didn't get our tickets until last night 30 days out, so I can't answer that question.

BUT another thing that happened that I forgot to write about was it kept telling me that I couldn't make my selections until the 60 day mark, April 11th. Except that our dates are March 7th-14. So I apparently couldn't make reservations until a month AFTER I LEAVE. I just kept refreshing and going back and forth and eventually got it to realize that March 7th is indeed a month or so before April 11th.

I agree on the picking your own times thing. It wanted to spread my choices over the whole day and it couldn't take into account that we're hopping so making our choices in our second park -- only I could do that. It really is an inefficient way to do it, but I think it might be necessary given that they're going to allow everyone to book 60 days out. They're going to need the priority list because there won't be enough fp's for very busy days. At least that's the idea I had from it when I was modifying all of my choices to get the times right. What a pain -- made me happy we cut back to 4 park days.

I was honestly surprised how few evening choices were left for some days. I know we are going the first week of the Spring Break season and I booked at 30 days out instead of 60, so I'm kind of left wondering exactly how many they
make available to begin with or just how crowded it's going to be...
