Hi everyone

Does anyone know of there is a smaller version of the three tier mad hatter cake?

We are working to a really tight budget but DF loves this cake

Thanks

Andrea

You can do just a two-tier, though obviously that will feed less. (I can't remember how many the two vs. three tier will feed.)

I've also read that an outside vendor called It's Tasty Too does awesome work, she's cheaper, the cake is delicious, and she does mad hatters. :thumbsup2

Our 2-tier Mad Hatter was $450 (Aug 2011), and I believe the BEO said it feeds 30 people, not counting the top tier which I think they said feeds 6-10. Also, to make up for the smaller top tier, which was a different flavor than the base, we got a quarter sheet cake for $75.

Wow that's so exciting $450 is within our budget DF will be so excited

We only need it to feed 25 max

Thank you x

Are you having an Escape or Wishes wedding? I had an Escape wedding, but my husband and I were set on having a Mad Hatter cake. We upgraded from the cake included in the package to a 2-tier Mad Hatter cake that my husband designed himself. The cost to upgrade was $250 (including the fresh flowers on the cake). This was in 2010, so it may have gone up slightly...but I doubt by very much. The bottom tier easily fed our 19 guests...we still had half the tier left even after some people had seconds! I've included a picture below, so you can see what we got for the upgraded price. Hope you're able to get the cake you want!

Wow your cake is gorgeous, hubby did a good job designing it.

We are having wishes but with the smallest guest count allowed.

Thank you for sharing this with me x

$25o for that size cake is ridiculous IMO. The cake prices are getting absurd.

Are you absolutely set on getting your cake from Disney?

We have a small 3 tier mad hatter (serves 32) from an outside vendor. It cost $136! Heather at It's Tasty Too has been awesome, the same cake from Disney $505!

I thought you had to have the cake from Disney. I didn't realise I had a choice

I'm not set on Disney as we won't be able to attend a tasting session anyway so would never know any different.

How does it work ordering from an outside vendor?

Thanks x

If you are having an official Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding (Escape or Wishes) Disney must make the cake. If you want to order a cake after a Memories Collection event or just have one delivered to you at WDW, you can use anyone you want. Having a non-Disney vendor deliver to a restaurant only works if it happens while you are there, since Disney is not supposed to keep outside food in its kitchens.

Thank you for clearing this up Lurkyloo.

It's a bit disappointing as it would have been nice to save on the cake so I could put the money towards cindys carriage but we are a family that love cake and after hearing all the yummy stories on here about Disney cake I do still want one.

Thank you x

I can't believe that a mad hatter only serves 30! We had one for our 18 person wedding, and we just had SO much cake. We were eating our top layer for over a week and still didn't finish it!

Here was our Mad Hatter, by the way: It was a Magic Kingdom cake, and the bakery designed it to look like a scrapbook.

A 2-tier Mad Hatter cake actually serves 50, if you include the top tier. They sometimes take it out of the equation because they think people want to save the top tier for their anniversary. On top of that, Disney's estimates are always on the low side, so you could probably serve closer to 60 or 65 if you made the slices smaller.
