Ok, I am so mad at my son right now that I had to leave the room. He pulled the towel bar off the shower wall, ripped the ceramic side part off the tile wall, and when it fell it chiped my bathtub. I heard the crash and then my child brought me the towel bar and said that he didn't want it in his bathroom anymore.
He is only six years old. I am so mad that I told him to stay in the other part of the house. DH is at work and I don't think that I can talk to him yet with out YELLING. So I am going to sit here and think about our wonderful trip in 54 days and wait for my husband to talk to him later.
Just wanted to add, this is a kid that is so good that I don't even remember the last time I put him in time-out. I have no clue why he did this.

Wow, what strength! When you are able to calm down, take him into the bathroom and show him all the damage he has done, including the bathtub. Let him know it's OK to want changes, but to let you & Dad know first! I would ask him WHY he wanted the towel bar off right then - there could be more to the story than he just wanted it off.
Good luck!
