I know some of you will not believe me when I say this, but I purchased a MacBook recently and VMK runs amazingly fast. I can play any mini-game, pirates, fireworks, JC, and win each time (provided that I have the skills lol).

So all of these people who say you CAN'T run VMK well on a Mac - you're wrong. I'm a perfect example that you can.

Here's my specs-

MacBook
2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo
1GB Ram
80GB HDD

Is it possible that some of these Mac users don't have an Intel Core 2 Duo? Some people are stuck with a Powerbook processor of old, and those are just horrible at playing VMK..

I'm guessing that these people are even running the INTEL processors, just not C2D's because there is an amazing speed difference between just the C2D and CD.

I forgot to add that mine is a C2D. Thanks for reminding me lol!

I play vmk on my 20" imac, the last model before they went to intel, other than taking 20 minutes to load the game I have no complaints..

My Specs are very similar
MacBook
1.83 Ghz Core Duo
2GB Ram
90GB HDD

And I can't play any mini game to save my life. The lag is horrible. I think the system finally cleaned up after the Core 2 Duos came out. I'm not sure. But for the most part it won't run. You can run VMK if you are running windows on your Mac Book but that's only solution I've found and I'm not going to bother with the possibility of putting a virus on my baby :)

Ok first of all the MacBook is a version of the Mac that was produced also as a gaming computer. 2nd, the Mac OS X panther and tiger are the computers having problems due to the fact that shockwave does not have a version that works well with art programs (for some reason it looks for art programs and attaches itself) and the effect is that it is slow. So we are telling the truth when we say it does not work. VMK is very slow for me and I wish I could show you how but I do not know how to take a video on the computer showing the internet browser.

Mac User,

I can play any game on mine - they always work. If you are running panther, you need to try and get Tiger. I am not sure what thety have done in the recent updates to the line, but it must be something major.

I have tiger but am also sharing it with 2 other people.

i have a Macbook ( all we own is macs :)) and i use parallels for vmk and it is extremely good, sometimes there is a litlle lag but barely ever

MacBook isn't exactly what I would call a "gaming computer" seeing as it's a laptop first of all and the fact that LAPTOPS USE TRACKPADS! But USB mouses rock. My PowerBook G4 is incredibly slow with VMK. Or for any video, game, or anything for that matter. Why? We think it's either the RAM, the HD, or the lack of good Virtual Memory. (VM being a memory cache stored in the HD I believe) By the way, there's several programs that record a certain window you select. I dunno what they are, but you should try looking into one.

Or wait for Leopard, Mac's upgrade to Tiger coming soon. It boasts some pretty cool features in my opinion.

Not everyone who even has a Mac has a MacBook. Yeah, sure I can play VMK great on my brother's MacBook Pro but the best I can do when I try to play it on my iBook G4 is just walk around, and very slowly I might add.

It all depends on the specs.

Its probably because of the Intel Duo Core, thats what I have on my Dell and VMK is pretty fast for me.

I think some people are misunderstanding me... I am not saying that anyone is lying, I just want prospective buyers who do play VMK to not be discouraged by the posts around on the board that VMK runs very slow. With new Macs, it doesn't. VMK runs fast on all new macs because of the C2D processor.

This is not true at all, the new version of the G5 i played at my friends house was worse than mine. This did have the C2D and the Intel

Um.. guys how good VMK runs doesn't really matter on your computer specs and more on your internet. If you have a wireless network stuff gets relayed by your router which can cause a ton of lag in gaming. It also depends on what kind of wiring is being used. If it's the latest fiber optics then it can make your connection go up to 2gb/s. Amd all the way though because Intel processors like Windows comes with a ton of crap on it that you don't need and just slow it's performance down. If you can't afford a brand new Mac then try Linux. It costs $200 less than Windows Xp. Know how much Xp costs? $200.. :rotfl: If you don't want to install over your current operating system or make a dual boot so you can have 2 operating systems you can order a live cd for free. If you have no clue what open source is or have never heard of Linux before today you should try out Ubuntu. A live cd is basically an operating system on a dvd. Stick it in, reboot and let your computer run Linux of your RAM without taking any hard drive space. If you want to stop using it just take the cd out. And for the record.. a Intel dual core is actually only 1.5 processors and that's if you put the setting on max. The factory setting is usually 1.

Uh... Intel processors have nothing to do with stuff being installed on it... not sure where you came up with that. The computer supplier/manufactuer are the ones who decide what gets put on the computer software wise. Any Mac, intel or not, comes with no bloatware aka junk software. It's a clean install.

Also, they are all Core 2 Duos now. Not Core Duo.

I didn't say software. Processors have security stuff and how to complete a process and certain setting you can change. You can't see all this stuff on it from your computer. Computer software is not what I meant. Microsoft/Apple decide what software they want on those models and give the cd for it to the Manufacturers.

Well, technically, computer specs do matter. Try running VMK on a Pentnium 3. Plus, only the big cities (mostly on the coasts of USA, opther countries are different) have fiber optics. Best wiring you can get is cable in most areas. And like he said, wireless is slower than regular wired internet. Plus, encryption slows down wireless.

Sharing an OS with someone isn't gonna do anything to your performance. Not unless you have several accounts running.

I tried to play VMK on my dad's laptop that's a pentium 3 1.6GHZ with 256MB ram and it worked faster than on my desktop with a AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.8GHZ and 512RAM.
