Anyone who has used a Maclaren stroller while at WDW, I need your advice. I just got rid of our double baby jogger 'cause 4 year old daughter refuses to sit in it and it's way too big for the mall--but I am now hot on the trail of a Maclaren double stroller. I have a 2 year old (he weighs close to 30 pounds) and my 4 year old weighs close to 40 pounds. Does anyone know the weight limit on the Maclaren double (I'm thinking Opus Duo or Twin Traveller), and does anyone have experience (either positive or negative) with this particular brand of stroller, ie. how well does it hold up, is it easy to manuever, would it be comfortable for my 4 year old at WDW (she'll be 5, but I'll bet $$ she won't want to walk the entire 9 days!) ?? The Maclaren appeals to me because it is small enough to fit through a standard size doorway (my baby jogger wouldn't even fit through a handicap entrance!). However, it's also rather pricey and I'm not sure I want to get back into something expensive, particularly if I'm not going to be using it alot. On the other hand, the Maclaren holds it's value well, and I could sell it when I'm through with it--and probably recoup atleast half my money. Any advice is greatly appreciated...

I had a MacLaren single umbrella stroller which I took to WDW with my 4.5 year old last January. Unfortunately, it was also its last trip (sigh.) However, it had made it through numerous US trips, our hometown's coblestones, and all the way to Paris and back. I would highly recommend it, if you're going with a double versus two singles (which is what we're doing this trip, as our kids will probably want to do different things.)

Thumbs up from me.

I also have the single and love it. We arent taking ours to disney. I went out and bought a new one. I wanted one that had a big basket and cup holders. Michelle

I actually have a Maclaren single stroller, and when I was ready to buy the double, DD is 3 and DS is 4 months, I was going to get the Maclaren, until I found the Combi Twin Saavy. The Maclaren's weight limit is 30lbs per seat I believe, the Combi is 40lbs. The Maclaren weights around 20lbs, the combi 15lbs. I also liked the look of the Combi better, it's a more comfortable seat, and the front bar can be removed together or in parts. The sunshade is definately better also. It's 30in wide, so it will fit through a regular door, and it has TONS of storage space. They now come with a holder that attaches to the handle, which has two insulated cup holders and a little pouch for keys, and such. Now, buy what you feel comfortable, I would have been happy with a Maclaren, but the Combi I feel is better, also about $100 cheaper!!!!

we just did WDW with a Maclaren (single) these are extremely popular in the UK - probably the number one umbrella stroller, and they are very good quality. However, in the USA, they are very expensive, I don't know if I would spend $200+ dollars on one.
Ours was great - it's very lightweight, easy to take on the buses etc and my dd seemed comfy in it (not sure what my dd weighs, but she's 3 1/2 and I think she will be ok in it for another year or two)

Bev, what do MacLaren's run (cost) in the UK? My DH is in London as I write, and if he can pick one up relatively cheap, I'd love to have another.

TIA,

Kate:

Are you sure that you really need an expensive double stroller? I love my Maclaren single, but if your 4 year old refuses to sit in a stroller alone I don't see much of a chance that she'll sit with her little brother. What about something like a "Seat 2 Go" (http://www.litaf.com/seat2go.html) which will allow your 4 YO to sit or stand behind the stroller.

mbw, have you been to Marden's ? They bought out babygear.com and have had GREAT prices on strollers, I saw several maclarens there for under $100.

MBW -

Maclarens run from £30 for a very basic Osprey which doesn't lie back at all, £70 for the Maclaren Daytripper, £90 for a Mistral, £130 for a Vogue, £150 for a Techo - you can see them all on here
http://www.kiddicare.com/online/Sections/buggys.htm

but if he is in London it will probably not be practical to order via the internet (this is the cheapest site I have ever found - but I have quoted you the RRP)

He could try mothercare, toysrus, department store, or a independent pram store (in the phone book), Nearly everywhere stock Maclaren although mothercare don't have a great range.

Don't let him buy a mothercare look-a-like, they look just like the maclaren's but they are nowhere near as long lasting, the wheel fell off mine.

I have the Osprey which we took all over WDW with my 3.5 yr old, and it was great -folded up tiny and lightweight, yet my dd managed to sleep in it ok, and we could put bags etc on the back.
