Mac Users - Iphoto Question

Wen I got my mac a few months ago, like everyone I was just exploring it and somehow I got a bunch of misc. folders and graphics into my Iphoto.

Anyone know how to wipe it clean so I can point it towards my photo folder on my external drive and not all the other folders it is picking up.

Thanks

Just hold down the option (alt) key while you click on iPhoto in your dock. A window will pop up asking you to select your library; from there you can create a new library as well (pick from any series of photo locations, including an external drive).

If you create a new library when doing the option(alt)/open iPhoto you will also need to get your photos into the new library. iPhoto maintains an internal structure for photos so unless your pictures on the external drive are an iPhoto library that you can select at option(alt)/open you will need to import the photos to your newly created library. To do this you can drag the pictures into the library or select "Import to Library" from the "File" pull down and select the photos for your library. The import causes iPhoto to create that internal structure using your photos. Since your original photos will remain in the original folder you will need sufficient space on the external drive for both that folder and the iPhoto library.

Thank you both so much.. It worked!!!

Now another questions... When I export my files into the folder in question from Adobe Lightroom will the folder in Iphoto automatically update s I add pictures or will I need to import them?

Thanks again
