"As previously announced, there will be two Mission: SPACE experiences, Orange Team (spinning high G version as before) and Green Team (non-spinning mild version). The current Standby entrance will become Orange Standby, with the current Singles entrance becoming Green Standby. Before anyone can enter the building they will need to have an orange or green pass, which will have to be presented at the end of the line. This pass will ensure that the rider has chosen the correct ride version, and should help to reduce confusion.

The new version is set to be available to guests this Friday."

This shows poor planning. Clearly the spinning version should have been the Green Team! What were they thinking!

I was thinking the same thing about the Green Team.. What better way to say, COME RIDE THE SPINNING VERSION AND GET ILL

Well I have to admit I'm glad there's a 'No-Spin' version - I would never have been able to go on the Spinning version so this is better for folks like myself.

I have been under the opinion that the movie was not strong enough to stand on its own, but I am anxious to see what people think. I will ride the green line myself, just to see

hopefully the new version wil be good. this will give us another attraction that the entire family can go on together. maybe by ths weekend someone wil have gone on the new versin and can give us an update

I must invisible, I posted a couple of weeks ago official news from WDW about the non-spinning version and I got no replies.

Sorry, just feeling ignored.

Okay, I'm over it :teeth:

Not ignored, just a few days late. There was already a big thread on it when you posted.

I'm confused. Disney didn't create a no-drop version of the Tower of Terror for people with vertigo, or a slow-motion version of Expedition Everest for people who don't like roller coasters. So why are they opening a no-spin version of Mission Space? It seems to be a response to the fact that a couple of folks have died after taking the ride. I don't mean to trivialize the tragedy of their deaths, but I suspect that they knew what they were getting into when they took the ride and they (or their parents) might have chosen the spinning version even if they were given a choice. This development seems ill-conceived to me.

It seems to me that this route is cheaper than either shutting the whole, expensive thing down, or the next lawsuit waiting to happen. :rolleyes1

it doesn't seem at ill-conceived when you factor in the proof that there's more complaints about Mission:Space causing feelings of nausea, dizziness and just plain not feeling good than any other ride at WDW. Add to that the media coverage of the deaths and it adds up

the only thing i have a problem with (if i am understanding this right) is the singles line is going away. i have no problem with the no g-version but they should keep the singles line, for people who are the only person in their family that wants to ride at all.

I totally agree with you! There are plenty of other rides with the risk of motion sickness like the other DISer pointed out. But this is the only ride where barf bags are included and riders are warned that even if they have never experienced motion sickness before, it is quite possible you will get sick! Riders definitely know what they are getting themselves into, there are plenty of warnings and precautions given. But I do think that is nice to give those guests out there who can't handle the ride's intensity, a chance to view the movie.

It's because it's easy to do and not really effect the ride table.

And some of the other motion based sims have a motionless car as well in other parks.

The bottom line is that riders weren't riding thus not going through the store and spending money .So this is an easy fix to move people through that attraction.

Because there is a pretty significant demand for it, perhaps?

Its open and early reviews show it to be a success. No spinning but moves like Star Tours but smooth like Soaring. Might be able to talk my Mom in-law into riding, and may even let the 5 year old daughter ride Mission Green next May.
