Hello, Are you able to prearrange a ride from Disney Resort to Tampa cruise terminals? I would be anxious about trying to arrange this on the morning of. If you can, could you please advise how it's done. Thanks so much.

Yes, you can preschedule a ride with Lyft, but I always advise against it.

Lyft typically dispatches prescheduled rides way early, the driver responds to the pickup location, and you're not there because they arrived 30-60 minutes before you wanted them to pick you up. You get a $10 cancellation fee.

If you're going to be boarding a cruise, you won't need to leave WDW until mid-morning. There will be plenty of Lyft drivers around.

Lyft theoretically will advise the driver that you are requesting a long ride, but the info given is so limited that the driver won't really know what to expect. As soon as the ride is accepted, I suggest that you call the driver and explain your trip to them. If they ask you to, cancel quickly (so you don't get charged a cancellation fee) and submit the request again until you get someone to take it.

You might also research a one-way car rental or shuttle option. A one-way rental possibly could work out less expensive than a 70 mile Lyft trip.

The advantage to prescheduling a long ride on Lyft is that Lyft puts the info out on the driver app for driver's to accept in advance, so the rider doesn't have to go thru the request-phone-cancel-request-phone-cancel dance.

Jim, I have not taken any prescheduled rides as a Lyft driver. Is the driver allowed to declare a "no-show" with a cancellation fee before the scheduled pickup window?

True, but I've seen quite a few posts saying Lyft is now sending the request to TWO drivers. One is the one scheduled, and the other is a backup. I am not sure that's 100% accurate, but if they do it, I assume it's because they've had a lot of fails.

I honestly don't know, but I assume you can. The one scheduled ride I've done was all messed up and I arrived 55 minutes prior to the time the rider requested. I canceled "Do NOT charge rider," and came back an hour later and picked them up.

IMHO, if Lyft expects drivers to sit there and just wait when they send us an hour early, they're living in a dream world. But then again, it is Lyft!
