So here's the deal: I'm going to WDW for the first time in 15 years next week (and my first time as an adult). I'm going to MK on Friday, and I'm coaching at a figure skating competition that I need to be at by 5PM. I really want to maximize my time in the park as much as possible since I don't know when I'll ever get back. I've also never taken an uber or lyft before so I'm a complete neofide at this  I'm really stressing out about all this right now, so any help is appreciated.
  • Would it be more efficient and cheaper to leave my luggage at the resort (Caribbean Beach) on Friday morning? Or should I take it with me? Are there lockers for luggage at MK?
  • I've been told my best option in the afternoon would be take the monorail to TTC, and then lyft to Caribbean Beach (to pick up luggage if I leave it at bell service). About how long should I expect waiting for and riding the monorail to take? How long should I expect to wait for a lyft? Can I order my lyft while on the monorail?

No, there are no luggage lockers.

What you SHOULD do is walk from MK to the Contemporary, and pick up your ride there to Caribbean Beach.

Where is the competition? There are no rinks close to WDW, and you're talking rush hour. Even just going to Kissimmee, you may need more time than you think. If it's at RDV, you could be looking at close to an hour drive-time.

I think I figured it out. You're coaching at an ISI competition at RDV Ice Den...right?

I don't use Lyft, but I checked my Uber app and got the following info -- based on starting at the Contemporary Resort (FC Dub is right!), with a brief stop at Caribbean Beach to pick up your luggage, and then to RDV:
  • Wait time 13 minutes for pickup (rideshare vehicles are staged at a lot, so there is drive time to pick you up)
  • Total time to RDV, including pickup, stop at CBR, and drive time -- one full hour. (I have to tell you, that sounds a little optimistic to me.)
  • Cost about $40 for X -- assumes only one person with luggage.
  • If you have 3 or more, you would need XL, which would be about $60. (prices could change, of course)
Can I order my lyft while on the monorail?
    NO!

Frankly, I would stay at the Sheraton Orlando North (just 1/2 mile from RDV) for the competition, and then stay the night after at CBR and enjoy WDW the next day.

We always stayed at that Sheraton for competitions at RDV (my DD was a high level competitive USFS skater back when RDV was USFS -- apparently they've changed). It's a good hotel and very convenient to the rink.

Also, Sam Snead's Oak Grill, just across the RDV parking lot from the rink, was always a go-to place to eat. Good food and service, moderate prices.
