Lurkyloo Does WDW: Solo Banzai Run for PassPorter’s Decade of Dreams!

I have two months until I leave for disney. I decided that today was the day to get serious about shedding those winter pounds, but then I came here and looked at the cupcakes. ugggghhhhhh! :sad2: Must resist CUPCAKES!

I think you should just buy 2 travel size sunscreens. That's 6 ounces and, hopefully, it will fit with all your other stuff. But I see your dilema. It is close to impossible to fit all applicable liquids into a quart bag. I don't even try, but traveling with only a carry on would certainly speed things up!

I second asking Jensey, or once we finalize our plans I'd be happy to pick up whatever you want and could meet you on Friday with the stuff...in exchange for some See's candy (just kidding!).

How do you feel about Kiehl's products? I'm asking 'cause my guy over here gives me oodles of packets any time I travel (I buy a LOT from him) so, if you want, I can hook you up with easy to pack sample packets of facial stuff, hair stuff, lotions, potions, etc. As for sunscreen. I usually buy some at the airport post check in and then throw it away before I come home. Lame but, fair. Or occasionally, I find hotel gift shops that sell great stuff. I snagged a kick booty spray on sunscreen at WDW last trip. I gave it to Sean to take home since he was checking luggage (amateur!).

Lemme' know what ya need and I'll send you a packet (or mail it to your hotel!)

...it may cost you a susiecakes visit tho!

I will also take Sprinkles as a payment option!

If Jensey can't pick you up some, I can. I can completely sympathize as I have to take full bottles as well. Thankfully we have lotsa storage in our van.

you know, when you ship priority mail it only takes 2-3 days, the post office supplies the box, and the cost is between $4-$5. however, i read somewhere recently (on the dis, no doubt) that the hotels are now charging you a fee if you ship something to them to hold until your arrival. it might be more cost effective to ship it to your pal and pick it up at her place. she could leave it on the porch on your arrival day. just an idea. :)

Hmm...that is a tough one. I vote for Jensey hooking you up to but mailing it over to the resort isn't a bad idea either. I love that strawberry sprinkle cake by the way!! Strawberry is my FAVORITE!

Everyone else pretty much gave the same suggestions I was going to, mainly either having Jensey pick it up for you or buy it at the airport or bring two travel sized bottles. Just don't check your bag for the sunscreen - you could buy another 4 bottles for the $30 you'd spend!
Also that cake is quite fantastic looking, but I think I would appreciate it more if I hadn't just shoved an entire king-sized 3 Musketeers bar down my throat. I regret this already.

Hello there! I'm jumping back on the LurkyLoo train! I just got back from a long weekend in DC---had to take advantage of the nice weather and blooming cherry blossoms and give my new camera a whirl!

Anyhow---I saw your predicament about the sunscreen. Did you know that they make sunscreen wipes now? Sort of like the face wash wipes and stuff---but with sunscreen instead. We packed these for our trip to Mexico in August because we just wanted to take one checked bag and they were perfect!! They don't count towards your liquid allowance and still provide protection.

If you don't want to have your friend buy you some sunscreen before you arrive, I'd look into these! :thumbsup2

ummm...Carrie-

What kind of Sunscreen do you use? There's a reason why I'm asking, but I can't tell you right now...:goodvibes

Let me know....I have an idea...

oh! And the body butter/lotion too...just let me know what brand/type...again, cannot tell you at this time why I'm asking but a lightbulb has gone off in my head....:wizard:

You are too sweet! :goodvibes Thank you so much for thinking of me!

I love the look of the latest c-o-t-d...........yummy!!!!
Can't help with the packing. I am a horrible over-packer.:rotfl:

:cutie: I hear ya - on our honeymoon, since we had to check a big honkin' suitcase, I crammed it with so many comforts of home that we ended up referring to it as "the pharmacy" for all the blister blockers, band-aids, cotton balls, hand soap, ear plugs, etc.

Why don't you ask Jensey to pick some up for you??

Exactly what I was going to suggest! I am sure she will not mind.. I know how you HATE imposing on people, but I bet she wouldn't mind one bit!!

:lmao: You guys are so funny! I wonder what Jensey thinks of being volunteered so readily! :teeth:

I have two months until I leave for disney. I decided that today was the day to get serious about shedding those winter pounds, but then I came here and looked at the cupcakes. ugggghhhhhh! :sad2: Must resist CUPCAKES!

I'm sorry! Should I stop with Cake o' the Day? I didn't mean to torture anyone....

Oooh! Oooh! :hyper: You know about See's Candy? Which ones are your favorites?

To me (and Jensey, it turns out!) the very bestest one is the Butterscotch Square, which tastes like chocolate-covered brown sugar!

But the runners up are...

Dark Chocoloate Buttercream (bad pic):

Dark Chocolate Bordeaux:

And Milk Chocolate Cocoanut:

Hey, that's really sweet! And wouldn't it be fun to live it up at cheap-o Pop Century with Kiehl's samples. I think I have found a solution, though....

If Jensey can't pick you up some, I can. I can completely sympathize as I have to take full bottles as well. Thankfully we have lotsa storage in our van.

You are so kind to offer, but I don't want you to have to think about anything but your wedding - that's plenty! :goodvibes

Thanks for the tip! I did a little :magnify: on the DIS. So far, it seems like Disney has been talking about it but not implemented it (except for a flat $10 fee at convention resorts - boo!). I would be really mad if they started charging it b/c then it defeats the purpose of shipping ahead to save $$$, but I guess if Disney really is having to do a lot of extra work with packages, that's how they justify it.

:cutie: Silly fruity lady!

Oooh! I hope you will share pix! I loooove cherry blossoms, and I'd love to see them in DC some time.

That is a really good idea - thanks for the tip! I'd heard of solid shampoo bars, but not sunscreen wipes. Very clever.

Thank you all for the great ideas! I think I'm going to employ some of them on my next trip (which means my next trip better be to wherever Jensey is at the moment! ;)).

But the solution for this trip has come in the form of me ruining a surprise that Lorelei528 --er, "Mickey Mouse" -- had planned to have delivered to my hotel room. :guilty: However, just learning about the surprise was a surprise, so that was really sweet! :cloud9:

Said surprise (which I still don't know what it is) will also contain the suncreen and moisturizer I need and allow me to travel with only a carryon - HOORAY! Thank you Lori!

In Cake of the Day News, well... here's one that I think won't send anyone running to the pantry, since it's less delicious-looking than it is A-FRIGGIN-DORABLE looking!

If there had been room in our budget for a groom's cake at our wedding, I thought it would have been hilarious to serve DH this:

Unfortunately, there ended up being far less cherry blossom pictures than I anticipated because of the INSANE crowds. I swear, it felt like WDW on Christmas Day. Here are some others of pretty flowers and such though :goodvibes

Luckily, these provided the perfect opportunity for me to (maybe) make my first Blurb Book. I would hate to order a huge one after our December trip to WDW and be disappointed with it, so instead---I'll first try out one of their books with my DC trips instead. :thumbsup2

Oooh! Oooh! :hyper: You know about See's Candy? Which ones are your favorites?

I love almost all of them (except the fruit flavors). I once ordered a custom box from their Web site after trying them on a visit to LA. My favorites in no particular order: Butterscotch Square, Milk Chocolate Buttercream, Milk Chocolate Bordeaux, Milk Chocolate Cocoanut, Marzipan, Light Chocolate Truffle, Mocha, Chelsea, and Café au Lait Truffle. As you can see, I only like milk chocolate :) Do they have See's stores where you can pick what you want? If so, I need to start planning a trip :)

Oh no, you must continue with Cake O' the Day. I just have to start reading when I AM NOT hungry!

Please don't stop! They're pretty & giving me ideas for my b-day cake!

Ya know, I never ate See's when I lived in Palm Springs, & they had at least 2 shops there that I know of!

I agree keep the cake of the day pics! They are fab!

Oh and See's comes to our local mall every easter and christmas time (kinda strange) so I load up on butterscotch lollipops and chocolates evryr time!

Oooooh! Pretty! :goodvibes Gee, you'd never know there wwere crowds from those shots - great job! :thumbsup2 And do post pix of your Blurb book when it comes - I'd love to see it!

Heck yes! Not only do they have stores with the fresh stuff (those pre-selected assortments they sell at the airport and CostCo are never fresh enough), but you get a free sample even if you don't buy anything!

For shame! :cutie:

I know some people (who are not you, I'm sure) don't think See's flavors are snooty enough, but I don't think just because Godiva sticks a hazelnut in every dang thing they sell that makes it any classier than See's. :snooty:

That's the way to go! I love the chocolate buttercream Easter eggs with the little sugar flowers on top.... mmmmmm...... :cloud9:

(Dieters and hungry people, shield your eyes....:3dglasses)

OK, today's cupcakes are from SusieCakes. I don't think they look as good as Sprinkles' but you gotta give them props for sticking extra frosting inside the cupcake! :thumbsup2

Every Mother's Day (hmmm... that's coming up!) Susiecakes holds a cake recipe contest where you submit your mom's or grandma's recipe, and the prize is like a $200 gift card. The first year, I submitted my dad's recipe for a unique orange cake that won him 2nd place at the Ventura County Fair in the '50s (the story goes that although it was beaten by a prettier, girly cake, his was the only cake that the judges ate every last crumb of).

The cake didn't win SusieCakes' contest either, but I got a nice note about how delicious it was and a certificate for a DOZEN FREE CUPCAKES! Hello!

So since then I submit a new recipe every year - who cares if it doesn't win? The runner-up prize is all I need. (Last year it went down to 6 cupcakes - I think they're on to me...)

well now..that is just MEAN!!

here I sit..unable to get off the couch and drive myself to the bakery and you post that...

I expect a FedEx tomorrow!!
