Hey guys!

How does the lunch break work over there? 30 mins? hour?

And are there several food options to choose from if you forget your lunch or just don't want to eat your packed lunch?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

The answers to both of those questions depend greatly on your location and specific role. Many locations have a cm cafeteria but not necessarily all do. Some are so far you barely have time to get there, scarf food down, and head back. Some roles get a 30, some a 45, and some an hour.

I believe the length of your break depends on how many hours you are working that shift. Longer shift = longer break. Sorry if that's not really helpful; I don't remember the exact cut off for what gets a 15 min break, an hour break, etc. Most of the time I brought food. I agree with the above poster, every location is different (ours did NOT have a cm cafeteria) but did have a microwave.

If it's a scheduled 6 hour shift that ends up 8+ hours: None

The six hour shift would have had two 15 minute breaks. If extended to 8+ hours, you would have one of those breaks become a 30-45 minute unpaid lunch. For 8 hours you would get 2 15s and a lunch. At pirates we had 45s, so I would end up with 2 paid 15s and and unpaid 45 even if force extended.

Depends on the length of your shift and your location, as a culinary CP i always got 1hr breaks and was paid for 30 min of them, but there were days were i was scheduled 15 hrs and CDS said that i was supposed to get a 1hr 45 min break but the managers made me come back after an hour. which was kind of sketchy but whatever...

At Hollywood a 6 hour shift would get two 15 minutes, an 8 hour shift would get a 30 and a 15, and anything longer would get two 30 minutes. I think these are correct, if not they are mighty close. The only time I ever got an hour break was working carts on streets of America and that is because we weren't allowed to leave the carts so we took our two 30 minute breaks as soon as we clocked in and then worked for 7 hours straight. And in backlands we were across the park from the cafeteria, we had a small alcove that sold snack foods until about 4:30PM.

I worked at HS too and I think the only time I ever got an extra 30 was on New Years Eve where I worked like 14 hours, and that night I believe I got five 15s and two 30s. I have a picture of it somewhere because I thought seeing that many breaks on CDS was super funny.

Where I worked (Backlands Attractions, DJ & Mermaid) we just accrued extra 15s, almost never extra 30s unless you were there from open to close. I guess that would ultimately depend on how well staffed you were in general
