I can feel a lump on the back of my neck, just above the round boney top part of the spine.

I have been having these mega headaches, and I don't have full motion of my neck, so yesterday, I starting to massage my neck, thinking I might have a pinched nerve. That's when I discovered this lump. It's about the size of a grape. My Dh thinks it part of my spine, but it's above that.

Now, I am not sure if it is part of my spine or not. My boss pointed out to me yesterday, with all the weight I lost, maybe I could never notice it before. IDK.

I know I should call my Dr. but if it ends up just being part of my spine..:headache:

Well I do know that your neck has TONS of glands and if you even have the tinest cold they can get inflamed. I was convinced I was dying when I found one on the back of my neck and my doctor told me what it was and not to worry.
BUT go see the doctor you'll feel better- even if it is just part of your spine.

I would call the doctor.I could just be a gland. But you said your getting headaches too.Better safe that sorry.

I once had a swollen gland in my neck that got painful very fast. Had to have surgery-the Doctor said I had "Cat Scratch Fever" even tho my cat had never scratched me.

Go see an internist pronto

If I found a bump on my neck and was having bad headaches, I would go see the doctor rather than rely on the internet to diagnose me.

Thanks, I am going to call, and I love how whenever someone posts anything medical, other people assume they are looking for a DX. Where in my OP do you see that I am asking for a dx?

Hey OP, let us know how you do, bet it will be fine!:grouphug:
Hope the headaches disappear!

I'm sorry but I have to ask why then are you posting about a lump you found on your neck then? I realize you may not be looking of a diagnosis, but are you looking for others who had something similiar to share what it was? Did you just want to let strangers on a messageboard know you found a lump on your neck? I really don't get it but I'll let you know my FIL found a lump on his neck and it turned out to be a tumor, so even if it is just part of your spine there is never a reason to feel :headache: for making sure its nothing more serious. :goodvibes

I just didn't see any other reason for what you posted except to get other peoples opinions about what the lump might be. :confused3

Maybe she just wants to know if anyone had this before to reassure her:confused3 I know I tend to jump to conclusions and sometimes it helps to have possible explanations while she waits for a Dr appointment.

I would get it checked out Marie. Hopefully it is just that you never noticed it before you lost all the weight. I just read a book where the girl thought she had a tumor but it was her hipbone..she had lost a bunch of weight so never knew they were there. Good luck.

Of course you should have a doctor look at it, but in the meantime, try googling "lipoma". I have a rather large (several inches) lump on my back near my shoulder blade that the doctor said is this. I can have it removed surgically, or just leave it alone.

Your spine goes alllll the way up, right to your skull. Headaches and a hard thing in your neck? I'd go see a chiropractor! Most likely a vertebra slightly out of place, easy peasy to take care of.

And on that note, I gotta get ready for my own chiro appt!

With headaches and neck problems, I would say to call the doctor for an appointment.

I would go to the doctor. It's always better to err on the safe side. Hope it's nothing.

I've had something like that and my physical therapist felt it was due to bad posture, and has been having me do certain exercises to correct it. Seems to help. I went to PT to deal with a shoulder problem, and she says it's all related, which I believe. So, as others have said, see your doc and maybe he/she will send you to PT.
