Just curious what everyone would say as to which restaurant they would skip between Lumieres and Cariocas for dinner at Palo's and why? There are things on each menu that sound appealing, but overall neither menu really wows us.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Personally, I liked the decor of Lumieres a lot more than Cariocas. The food was good at both, but I can't remember what I got. I would skip Cariocas for that reason, but I also always want to go to each dining room at least once.

I'd skip Carioca's for two reasons- prefer the decor of Lumiere's and the french onion soup :)

I would skip Lumiere's in a heartbeat. Worst menu ever.

I figure you mean the Signature menu? That's only served once on any given cruise. Subsequent visits to Lumiere's will have different menus.

Yes. But I read the OP's post as asking about those nights.

Maybe. Don't know which menu(s) the OP is looking at. Or if they are the menus that will be being served the night(s) that are under consideration.

True.

Of regular menus, I personally detest Lumiere's. Especially as someone who is gluten-free.

Just be aware the french onion soup is only on the Signature menu for Lumiere's. It's not available on every menu.

True! Most evenings I usually have the baked chicken/salmon and veggies (the boring, ahem, light side menu). Since that's the same in all MDRs that's why the ambience is so important to me! Of course, the night they do have fried brie and french onion soup, that's just a bonus :)

Yeah, I've found myself ordering the baked chicken/baked potato more times than I thought.

I love the french onion soup, but, sadly, it's really loaded with salt. But I still order it (rarely) and eat a couple of bites out of it.

Don't like Carioca's menu or decor. I would skip this one.

MJ

I wasn't thrilled with the decor, but considering I'm gluten-free and don't eat duck, fish, or snails, Lumiere's menu meant going boring.

Another vote for skipping Cariocas. Lumiere's menu is my personal favorite and think they do a great job with executing that menu.

I enjoy Lumiere's and all they have to offer! Maybe things have changed, but I think you can probably catch a breakfast or lunch in Carioca's for the ambience

We love the food in Carioca's, but not everyone does. Given a choice we'd skip Lumiere's over Carioca's, but that's just us and our tastebuds. YMMV.

One thing no one has mentioned - do you enjoy when the servers make funny hats out of the napkins and put them on your head? (for me it depends on how much wine I've had with dinner :rolleyes1). On the Magic, Carioca's seems to be the restaurant they do that in, or at least the two times we've been on there it was.

I'd skip Lumiere's. The decor and menu didn't do much for me. I really enjoyed both at Carioca's.

We hate the hats and tell the waiter to never mind.
