Luggage question???

OK the day we get off the ship our flight doesn't leave until 5pm..

We were thinking of going to downtown disney but what the heck are we supposed to do with the 6 or 8 pieces of luggage if we have a car service drive us there???

Hope someone has some good ideas for me..

Most of the big national airlines have a counter right outside the terminal where not only you check your luggage BUT can also get your boarding passes. We did this (with Delta) and went to WDW for the day. Not having to check in at Orlando airport gave us over an extra hour at the park.

If you fly one one DCL's airlines they will take the luggage for you to the airport once you are thru customs. ATA would not allow us to check our luggage 'till 4 hours prior to our flight!!

Will the other airlines take the luggage that much earlier??? Our flight is not until 7:00PM and while we will probably rent a car I had a BAD experience at BWV with luggage in a vehicle while parked in their gated lot and will not do that again.

All I can tell you is that we checked our bag outside the terminal with Delta at about 8:00 AM for a 2:30 PM flight. They put our bags on a truck right there, and I never saw them until baggage claim in my hometown airport. We rented a car from Budget and enjoyed about 5 hours of the Orlando area before we had to get to the airport. It works & we had no problems.

It's possible to have problems with bags checked in anywhere even at airports. On our way down at the beginning of our trip, our bags were lost at the Orlando airport. Luckily we weren't getting on the ship the next morning. We were at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at WDW beginning a 4day stay before the cruise. Bags arrived at about 6:30 am the next morning.
