Is there a limit to how much luggage you can carry per person? I looked over the docs, but I didn't see a limit. I could have overlooked it in my excitement about my FIRST Disney Cruise! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I don't think there is a limit how much you can carry on, there is a limit of 2 bags per person of luggage that is checked with DCL. Also, you can't carry anything on that would not be allowed to be carried onto an airplane. DCL uses the same x-ray machines the airlines use, so what you want to carry on, must be able to fit in the x-ray machines.

The limit is how much you can physically carry. The checked bag limit is 2 bags per person - including children. Remember whatever you carry on you may have to lug around the ship for a while depending on what time you board.

Stop by my room to drop off extra luggage? Here is my dilemma:

My BF wants to carry a large suitcase, a large duffel, and a garment bag for our dinner outfits. I will most likely have two large duffels. Plus we will probably have a backpack with our paperwork, etc. How large is the opening on the x-ray machine, I forgot...

wow...for two people that sounds like an awful lot of luggage!!!! Is one of the duffels for snorkel equip or something...

MJ

I was going to put our snorkel equipment in a small duffle ;)
It's our first cruise (well actually my 2nd, but first 4 day) so I'm sure we're overpacking. I will try to reduce mine to one large duffel, actually, I think I only had one large duffel on my first cruise. That way, he can have his suitcase and duffel, and I can carry my duffel and the garment bag. That's two checked apiece, and maybe we can get the snorkel gear into one of his bags and pack a small bag to carry it in off of the ship.

If you board before 1:00, they ask you to not go to your rooms. They do their best to herd you towards Parrot Cay or Beach Blanket Buffet for lunch. But if you go to the Aft elevators, you can slip up (or down) to your room to drop your stuff. Just don't plan on staying there as the cleaning staff may still be working frantically to have all the rooms ready by 1:00.

for all your responses everyone!! I can always get answers in a hurry on the DIS Boards! Gee-I sound like a commercial...LOL :p

Let me "piggyback" on this question to ask, How much room is there in the stateroom for "storing" our luggage (under bed/in corner/in closet, etc)? I expect that we will have one large, one small suitcase each (DH and self), not counting our carryon bag.

Keep in mind that the carry-on bags need to fit through airport style security, so you can't carry on anything that is larger than will fit through the x-ray machines.

And Joan, there is actually plenty of room to store bags, in the closet and under the bed. :)

Thanks, Michelle. Carry-on limitations I understand very well. I was most concerned about stateroom storage, and you've answered that well.

dropzone9 - just remember that anything you plan to carry on the ship, you should have been able to carry on an airplane. If you can't carry it on an airplane, then you can't carry it on the ship. Usally the dimensions for carry-ons are on any airline website. Check there, and then you'll know if you can fit in the x-ray machine. DCL's is a little smaller than the one's at the airport, since my umbrella stroller fit at the airport, but it didn't fit in DCL's.

We carried on a collapsible rolling cooler in January and it fit through the x ray machine.

dropzone - that does sound like a awfull lot of luggage for a 4day:D .

jel0-thanks for the tips. scminnie-what can i say, we want to be prepared for everything:p

i just spoke to him and told him i thought he could fit everything in one large duffel, surely women have more stuff than men!! :)
