I have a charger reserved with dollar, which they call a full size car.

It says it can carry 5 people and 5 bags, anyone know how much luggage they were able to get in the trunk?

Im trying to pack lighter this trip really I am!!!!!:lmao:

That would depend on the size of the suitcases. In my experience, anything with a trunk smaller than that of a Lincoln Town Car or whatever the big Cadillac is will not fit three full-size suitcases. You likely will be able to fit two full-size suitcases plus maybe three smaller suitcases in most "full-size" car trunks.

I'll suggest packing some duffle bags in addition to the hard-side roller bags. The duffle bags are typically smaller, and will "squish" a bit to fit in some of the nooks & crannies in the trunk. We've been able to fit 6 bags in a full-size trunk, where this is typically one large (28") roller, two smaller (25") rollers, and 3 duffle bags (varying sizes). We fly Southwest which doesn't charge for checking 2 bags per person, so we'll take more bags that are smaller (like the duffles) to better fit the trunk space. It's always like fitting pieces in a puzzle to get the bags arranged just right so they'll fit! We can also squeeze a bag in the backseat between my 2 children (ages 10 & 13) if needed.

My husband bought a new Dodge Charger about two weeks ago. The trunk is HUGE!! It could fit a double stroller and three large suitcases!!

Paysensmom that is sooo good to hear, Ive been stressing out about will it be big enough and what would we do if we got there and couldnt get all our bags in!!

I was at Wally World a few nights ago and a the lady parked next to me was driving a Chrysler 300 which I believe is very similiar in size to the charger and it had a huge trunk. I imagine it could hold 4 sull size suitcases and if we have to well put a bag between the kids in the back seat like Mareed suggested. Then our carry ons in any nook or cranny we can find.

We usually get an SUV put the prices are just too crazy!!!!:scared1:

I have a Charger also and the trunk is huge but keep in mind that you might not get a Charger when you get to the rental counter.

I would think if they were out of chargers that they would have to upgrade us to a larger vehicle not downsize us to something smaller.

I know this is what happened with us last year and the year before that at Alamo.

Anyone have any experience with Dollar?

I've used Dollar quite a bit and even rented a Charger from them (but it was in Maui not Orlando). Anyway, I have received several upgrades in the past with Dollar when renting a Full Size (2x in Las Vegas, once in Reno and once in Orlando). Once when they were out of Full Sized cars they tried to give me a small Suzuki suv but our luggage wouldn't fit so they ended up giving us a Grand Marquis. All the other times they went straight to the Premium or Luxury car.

Anyway, back to the Charger. We had a Charger in Maui last year and all our luggage fit. My DW bought us a couple of huge oversized bags that have a garment bag built into the normal large suitcase all on the wheels that roll in all directions. My DW's bag was over 50 lbs and was only 3/4 full (my bag was around 35lbs and I don't pack too much) that's how big the bags are. Anyway, both of these monsters and our friend's much more normal size suitcase and our back pack and computer bag all fit in the trunk.

I think you'll be OK :cool1:

Thanks for the good words!!!!

Im really getting excited only 12 more days to go!!!!

We had a couple of Chargers in Hawaii too (whatever was a step down could not fit all of our luggage so we had to upgrade). 3 people...10 days...LOTS of luggage. Still BARELY fit!! Had to put one LARGE 28" suitcase on the backseat next to DS along with something on top of it. We were traveling with several really, really large suitcases tho + a couple of carry-ons. I have since switched most of our bags to large duffles...as someone else said, they have a smaller "footprint" and hold A LOT + they're lighter to start with... If you're an overpacker I agree that duffles are the way to go!:thumbsup2
