Luggage For a Family of 5

We are flying to Disney in October and we need new luggage. I am struggling with how many suitcases we need to buy (they are expensive!). We are staying 10 days and DH says he will just use a duffle bag we already have so I guess I just need enough space for myself and our three kids (11, 7, and 4). I do plan to do laundry once while we are there. We are flying southwest so we each get 2 free checked bags.

You can get some less expensive luggage at BJs Wholesale and Sams club. I don't know if you have them there but they are definitely cheaper than buying a set at the big name stores.

We are a family of 5 and usually have two maximum size suitcases and one medium. Kids clothes definitely pack well but I'm not sure if you need all summer clothes or some fall clothes as well for October. We got ours from Costco and they work great. Plus, you can return at anytime if they break down.

Southwest is great for families our size, save a bundle with no bag fees! And no need to do laundry, just pack another bag since it's free!

We usually end up with 5 bags to check. Mine, Dh, and the girls are usually in 2, then 1 with toiletries and "stuff" (poncho, snacks, maybe beach towels) we usually try to leave plenty of room in that bag and Dh's bag for things we buy there. We also usually have a few carry on bags, camera bag for Dh, my bag usually has my purse, and paperwork, book, Kids usually have some kind of electronic (DVD player, DS, or something) a snack, book, coloring stuff and a change of clothes or swimsuit. depending on when we are arriving. It can be a pain but once we check them we are Ok- Magical Express is our friend!

We just bought a 25 inch Travel Pro suitcase at TJ Max and another one at Marshall's. They were $79.99 and they were great on our trip to Montana.

We use this set plus an additional 25" and my Vera weekender. DH usually has a backpack, too.
