Luggage drop at Manhattan Cruise Terminal?

Hi! We are going on the NYC - Quebec Disney Magic cruise this fall, and I haven't cruised from NYC before (however i have been to NYC many times). How early can we drop our luggage? I am thinking maybe 9:30am? We are staying at a hotel by Newark as we are coming in very late on the night before, then want to do something in Manhattan for a couple hours before boarding. Thanks!

A family we met in our cruise group did that very thing. This was their second time doing so. I hope someone replies who knows the times, but I wanted to say that these repeat cruisers recommend doing exactly what you have planned. Have fun!

I didn't think it was so early (last time we got to the NY port around 10:30 and it seemed like they were just starting to collect bags) but according to their website, baggage collection starts "no earlier than 9:30am"
