I'm certainly not disagreeing with the fact that the airlines have to keep a check on the weight of baggage being loaded.
What I can't get to grips with is the long list of items that must be packed in hand luggage (cameras, camcorders, passports, documentation, prescription medicines, currency, travellers cheques - not to mention something to eat and drink for 9 hours if you've declined the charter airline meal deal (and we're told to drink lots of water on the flight

) ) - and then there's a 5kg limit!
DD's hand luggage was rejected at check-in a couple of years ago, so we took out her bottled water (she carried it in the other hand

) and the bag weight was reduced enough to be accepted! Then we went through to Departures and bought more magazines, sweets, drinks, etc. for the flight, which all went in the previously weighed hand luggage

. We could also have stocked up on Duty Free drinks and added a couple more kilos to the bags!
Is there any logic to it? I can't see it LOL!
