Left Dad and DBF at home for an all girls trip to DLP. We stayed at the Sequoia Lodge for 4 nights (July 12th – July 16th). Figured people might find our dining reviews helpful for upcoming trips.

Lucky Nugget Saloon (Dinner) – Saturday 15th July

The Lucky Nugget Saloon is open for lunch every day and for dinner at peak times. As far as I know it is the same menu for both.

Here they serve an all-you-can-eat buffet. It was €30 per adult (I think it was €15 per child). The general cuisine is tex-mex (very similar to Billy Bobs in Disney Village). To start with we hit the cold salad buffet. This was my favourite part of the buffet. It was filled with various salads, nachos, chicken mayonnaise, egg mayonnaise, guacamole etc. All very good and very fresh.

Moving on to the hot buffet, disappointment set in. There were a variety of dishes available. Fajitas, beef in peppercorn sauce, chicken wings, spare ribs, fish of the day, dish of the day, rice, chilli con carne etc. The problem was the dishes were not refreshed as often as required. Twice I went to the hot buffet to find only two dishes were available. I never saw what the fish of the day or the dish of the day were – they were never out! The food was ok – not the best quality but tasty enough. The only options I saw specifically aimed at kids were chips, cheese pizza and chicken nuggets.

The dessert buffet looked fabulous. There were many options that changed regularly. Options included: apple flan, chocolate mousse, crepes with chocolate or strawberry sauce, mini cheesecakes, jelly etc etc. The chocolate mousse and the apple flan were yummy but the rest was pretty poor. The crepes didn’t taste right and the mini cheesecakes were very strange! Kind of like a half cheesecake, half trifle!

Throughout this many characters came to visit each party. It was done very fairly and the characters were not rushed at all. They came out in two sittings – with a 10 minute break in between. The time we were in there we met all the characters twice. It was nice to see some fairly rare characters were present. The characters were as follows: Minnie, Pluto, Tigger, Eeyore, Jafar, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood, Guppeto, Baloo (I may have missed one or two!)

As a character meal it was brilliant. The characters gave much more time to your party than at Café Mickey and the setting was nicer. Also there were many adult only parties (we weren’t the only ones!). But the food was very disappointing – I’m not sure I’d go here again.

Hi

Its a pity the food was dissapointing. I like tex-mex foods and was really looking forward to chicken fajitas. By the sound of it we will be hoping.

We can not really afford anywhere else unless we want to pay over 100 euros. Apparently DLP food guide said children under 3 are free. We will be travelling with 2 adults and 3 children aged 6, 2 and 2. Is this true are infants free?

Thanks for the review :thumbsup2

We've been to Lucky Nugget twice and were very pleased with the selection of food both times. It is not to the standard of the buffet at Inventions but then you are not paying such high prices.

I love the band playing and the theming of the Lucky Nugget. :) When we were there on Christmas Day we were there for nearly 3 hours, it's a wonder they did not offer us beds for the night! ;)

Our DD was just under 3 when we went to Inventions and we weren't charged for her so it probably is the policy for most buffets I think.

We did the Lucky Nugget in March and I thought the standard of food was good for the price of the meal. Our only problem was that tere was so much it was difficult to know what to choose, the dishes were constantly being replenished, the beef was too rare for my taste but another member of the group had it and said it was lovely and my DS thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Fajitas.

DH and I went up together for dessert and got one of everything which we shared between us. :)

I'd book again because of the large selection of food, there was something for everyone, and we didn't even bother with the starters, and the characer interaction was good too :thumbsup2
