Sorry Tara for interrupting, do know I"ve been reading and enjoying your reports - thanks for including the link at Dis Dining Board - that's what hooked me reading your dining reviews!! I'm a substitute teacher, and got lost in the magic of disney thru your reports, the kids snuck in and looked at the pics - "COOL" "WOW" "hey, where'd you find those?" (5th graders!!)

Thanks for taking the time to include so much detail, and pics... do you load everything at photobucket??? just curious, it seems like a lot of work, and I wanted you to know I appreciate it!!

Love the bunny pal towel animal!! Too cute!!

Meant to add. that we got to see Spike up and active back in Dec! it was really cool. But we didnt get the great views of the Giaraffe and the babe Elephant was just born so he was at the building :( but spike was cool, for a lazy lion I guess

You are so welcome! It has been a labor of love...I am glad that your kids have enjoyed it too!!

As for the photos, I tend to upload them through the DIS site, so I have a Gallery of photos under my name here. I then upload them into the report. It isn't so bad when I can post at work, but my home laptop doesn't like the posting process as much. I love doing this...I am going to be sad when my report is over...as it I am running out of days...

...it pours! Not only did I have a sore throat this weekend, but I managed to throw my back out too! :scared: :guilty: I was changing the spark plug wires on my car in the frigid cold with the wind blowing on my back...I go to stand up and :crazy2: my back froze up! I spent the rest of the weekend flat on my back on the heating pad. I am doing better today and can actually sit up, so I will try and post the next episode...

Here is some pixiedust: hope you feel better. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this report.

Anxiously awaiting the next installment (and hoping that your back is much better)!!!

Okay...this is going to be shortish...I want to post, but I have to go to the Dr. for my back...sitting up shouldn't be so painful! Anywho...back to our regularly scheduled trip report...

At this point, Cara and I were ready to leave. On the way out, we ran into that wacky bear Balou!

I need some bear necessities, those simple bear necessities…Balou is another tall character! I love it!!

After our meeting with Balou, Cara and I decided to go check out the WL. Cara, a DVC member, and I, a potential DVC member, were curious about the villas. We hopped on a bus to WL and were off…

WL is a beautiful resort. I think that the trip to WLV added to my confusion about where to buy DVC. We weren’t able to see inside the villas, but the WL grounds are amazing. Very woodsy and relaxing. Relaxing in a different way than SSR though. WLV has the relaxing-cabin-in-the-mountains feel…SSR has a very different feel. So far, I think that BWV has my heart…I would love to check out all of the options on a research basis before I buy…that might be pushing it too far though!

Cara and I explored WL for a bit and then decided to head over to MK. Not being familiar with WL, it took us a while to find the boat dock to MK. The boat ride over to MK is awesome. Along the way, you pass River Country, stop at Fort Wilderness and then head over to MK. A long, long time ago, I can still remember…visiting River Country. My parents brought us to Disney when I was 11 (see, a long, long time ago) and we spent a day playing at River Country. What fun it was! This was back when you could still swim at the beach at the Poly. Anyway, I digress…it was neat to float by River Country. It brought back some cool memories!!

Eventually, we docked at MK. Cara really wanted to ride Space Mt. No problem! We headed over to Tomorrowland. A 20-minute wait was posted, so we decided to jump in line. I think it took us 25 minutes to ride, but considering it was 5 pm on a Spectro night, we did great! This ride was another first – I rode in the very front seat. I think that this seat is too fun and scary at the same time. I kept seeing where I THOUGHT I was going, only to be wrong and get jerked in a different direction. I squealed like a piglet. It rocked! I am going to have to do this again…

After our space adventure, we headed over to Frontierland to scope out seats for Spectromagic. We then took turns running for food. I had heard wonderful things about Dole Whips and I really wanted to try one. Oh my, they are good. I got the pineapple Dole float. Yummy.

Cara and I enjoyed our treats while waiting for the parade (she ran for a pretzel). We had front row seats right behind the rope. Speaking of the rope, the rope was dangerous. The kids near me loved playing with this rope…bouncing it up and down, twanging it so that it hit innocent bystanders. After nearly getting whacked in the eye, I learned to protect myself from the rope…I am sure that I ruined some kid’s night too.

Soon, we heard the music and saw the parade coming down the street. I love this parade…

…these are some of the best pictures of the bunch. I have several like this…

Kind of cool looking, but not quite what I was going for. My camera settings were goofy, because last year I had a TON of really good shots. I still have the memories though!

After Spectro, Cara and I decided to escape from the massive crush of people and head to DTD for some shopping. We debated the best way to get from MK to DTD, but eventually decided to take a bus from MK to OKW and then hop on another bus to DTD. I am glad that we did it this way – it was an opportunity to check out OKW. If SSR matures like OKW did, I think it will be a beautiful resort. OKW is full of lush greenery. Also, the pictures of OKW do not do it justice. In person, OKW’s charm is really apparent. Hopefully, SSR will grow up to be as nice…

Our time was perfect. The bus from MK dropped us off just as a DTD was pulling up. Bonus, DUDE! Off to DTD we went…

I hope you're feeling better and the Dr. was able to help you out pixiedust: Keep these wonderful reports coming!

The flight, as all good flights should be, was unadventurous. There is one highlight that I need to mention though. As it was a Delta Song flight, I was able to enjoy Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. What a perfect start to the Lucky Bunny trip! I give the Curse of the Were-Rabbit Two Bunny Ears up . Does anyone know where I can purchase a Bun-Vac 6000?

Up next….The Magical Not-So-Express…

I LOVED W&G:CWR!! The bunnies were SO cutely made! Oh how was Delta Song? Comfortable at least? I am flying them to WDW in june for my 1st WDW trip!! I am so pumped! :cool1:

[quote thumper's tara]On the way back to the Haunted Mansion, I paused to take a picture of a waterless Splash Mt.
That picture of Splash MT. looks like a miniature of the real ride. How cool :thumbsup2

Personally, I normally fly NWA or Airtran, but took the Delta Song flight because it was a great deal - $162 r/t. I really enjoyed Delta Song. Customer service was great. The seats were as comfortable as seats can be (I volunteered for the exit row - I needed the extra leg room). You can purchase movies for $5, watch TV and play trivia for free...I think you can also purchase computer games as well, but I am not sure. Overall, I would fly Song again.

Thank you everyone for the get well wishes. The Dr. was helpful - nice strong drugs to losen up the back until it heals. Ahhh...much better. Although, I felt better yesterday morning than I did today. Oh well, this has happened before, so I know I will be all good soon.

I am working on the next installment!!

ta ta for now,

I can't wait to take a bus over to WL to see it - it would remind me of Timberline Lodge @ Mt. Hood, Oregon (where I grew up). It looks like a great place to lay back & relax feeling like you're in the woods again - but I have a soft spot in my heart for BWV too!

Hope you are feeling better - we are all loving your reports and wish the best for you! :grouphug:

After a short bus ride, we arrived at DTD. I had forgotten how big DTD is.

We started our shopping adventure in Goofy’s Candy Company. Goofy’s is a sugar lover’s dream. After wandering around a while, I noticed the design your own candy area. A little girl and her mother were having their creation made. Too cool. I decided that I needed (not wanted) to do this.. So, I grabbed a sheet…are you ready? I decided on a gingerbread Mickey. Next, I wanted my gingerbread dipped in milk chocolate and topped with a caramel drizzle. My sheet filled out, I stood at the counter and waited. And waited. And waited. There were 2 CMs and CM-earning-her-ears standing right there and nobody came over to me. I waited some more. I finally tried to get a CM’s attention and FINALLY they took my candy order.

The cool thing about designing your own candy is you get to watch as they make it. My gingerbread Mickey was slowly lowered into the melted milk chocolate (oh no!). After getting his chocolate bath, he was placed in the fridge to firm him up. Next came the caramel drizzle. I have to say I am glad that I watched them do this – I was able to stop them from drowning gingerbread Mickey – it started as a drizzle and turned to a drown. I stopped the CM from overloading Mickey…he then went back into the fridge for some additional hardening. Finally, he was packed in a box and ready to go!

Late at night, I ate my Gingerbread Mickey and he was so good. I was scared it would be gingersnap hard, but I was excited that the gingerbread was soft. He was almost too sweet (is there a thing?), but very yummy.

In addition to my gingerbread Mickey, I decided on a giant chocolate covered caramel square. This thing was huge! 2” square (at least). I didn’t eat it that night, but when I did, I could only manage half of it.

I am not sure what all Cara got, but I do remember that she built her own pixy stick. Goofy’s Candy Co. has different sized tubes that you can fill with different flavors. Cara decided on the smallest tube. She must have had a ton of fun filling it, because she overfilled and couldn’t get it shut! She quickly solved that though.

We waited in line to pay for our sugar and then it was off to the next shop. I believe it was the Disney Christmas shop. The Christmas shop ROCKS! Totally cool. Christmas isn’t even my favorite holiday and I loved this place. This shop does other holidays, but it is mostly Christmas…

After that we did some more shopping…I won’t bore you with all the details…mainly because I can’t remember the details. :rolleyes1

On our way out, we stopped at Earl of Sandwich. Now, I had heard DISers singing the praises of Earl of Sandwich, but had some doubts. I mean, it is a sandwich shop – how good could it be? How good? Amazing. The shop is a reason to go back to WDW. I LOVED MY SANDWICH! My name is Tara, and I am an Earl of Sandwich Believer!

With our sandwiches in hand, we headed to the bus stop. At the bus stop, we said our goodbyes…I would be leaving WDW the next day and we wouldn’t get another chance to see each other.

True to form, the SSR bus took forever to show up. I sat and watched as two buses for other resorts came and went. After a good wait, my bus showed up and I headed home.

The day had been amazing and I was sad to see it end…

Thumper's Tara, you have inspired me to try going solo and maybe meeting up with a fellow Dis member! I have enjoyed your report! I am taking my younger sister to Disney this July, but I may just extend my vacation a couple more days just for me!

mr. vacuum & i wanted to stop in and say hello, we're still loving your report! your DTD excursion reminds mr. vacuum of his own shopping adventures.
