Has anyone had any luck recently with walk-up dining reservations? Going spring break, having no luck getting our extra people now going added to our dining, there's no availability to match up our newest members with what we already have booked. They are really late in the game for spring break. Not sure what we'll end up doing to match up our plans together. If you see a sudden opening for Sci-Fi, Teppan Edo, Chef Art Smith, at good times, lol, that just might be me dropping them as I try to match our plans up between our two parties!

Also, has anyone had a dining reservation recently at a park different from their theme park reservation? For example, theme park for the day is HS, but have a reservation for dinner at Epcot. Is that possible to even do?

Lots to unpack here, but:
  • Not every restaurant is going to have walk-up--they don't "hold back" for walk ups, so it really just depends day to day what room they have at a given restaurant.
  • Not sure what week you are going, but if they have not extended hours yet (i.e., March 21 or later) you may be able to pick up reservations after hours are extended.
  • Checking the day before is also a good idea since people to cancel to avoid the same-day penalty
  • I don't know the size of your party, but if it is a large group, they have been asking parties over 10 people to split up into two groups post-Covid.
  • You can make a reservation a different park than your park reservation, but to get into the second park, you would need park hopper tickets and the reservation needs to be after 2pm (which is the time when hopping is allowed), and you would have to have already visited the park you had park reservations for. Disney has also said they may close off hopping if a park is at capacity, but that hasn't happened once since hopping resumed in January, so seems unlikely in the near term.

That's great information. I'm trying to figure this dining out right now. I probably won't put hope into a walk-up and probably not looking too hard at the park hopping for a restaurant. Definitely will be checking on the day before. That is a great point about the extended hours! Party size up to seven.
