LTS's Journey to a Healthier Life /Back Again--comments and support welcome!

So day 1 back was not off to a great start. I overslept and didn't have time to get any breakfast at home. In fact my kids had to eat at school. Bad mom.

But I was going to get a shot in my foot and if I didn't eat I would faint. I wanted to be be at least somewhat good and only had time for a drive through between dropping off the kids and getting to the Dr office. Why do all Fast Food places only sell crap for breakfast??? I settled on a Fruit and Yogurt Parfait that I only ate about 1/2 of for breakfast and a plain English Muffin with a little margarine. Probably not the best and not South Beach friendly, but better than anything else I could find.

B: 1/2 Fruit and Yogurt Parfait w/o granola, plain English Muffin with margarine, coffee w/ flavored creamer

L: Wendy's BLT salad with Blue Cheese Dressing, 1/2 Diet Pepsi

S: Got to talking and for got to eat it. But I am starving to having a cheese stick and water to hold me until dinner.

D: Chicken Cacciatore from SB site w/ whole wheat pasta Water

My food for June 12--I was out all day and coulnd't record:

B: 2 Eggo Whole Grain Waffles with sugar free syrup
Water

L: Leftover Chicken Caccatori from last night with Whole Wheat Pasta
Water

S: 2 small glasses of punch

S: Lite Yogurt, low fat granola and a cheese stick
Water

D: Watermelon, Strawberries, Grapes, carrots, snow peas, 1 T. Dill Dip, Water

D2: Small Stouffers Mac and Cheese

Going to DD's 5th grade Celebration/Graduation Party all afternoon and evening and will be surrounded by cake, chips, cookies, donuts and other goodies There is also a lot of fruit and veggies so I will stick close to those. My biggest down fall is chips but it appeared most were plain flavor--not my favorites.

Planned to have Sauteed Chicken and couscous for dinner and had it all packed but instead had fruit and veggies at the party. Had a small Stouffers Mac and Cheese at home cause I was very tired and hungry and needed something before I went to bed.

Overall I think it was a good day. I resisted A LOT of temptation. I was surrounded by cake, chips, pizza and tons of other dessert goodies for most of the day and evening. The only "cheat" was the mac and cheese and the punch.

Hi there LTS,

Sorry to hear of all the pain you are having in your feet. Hopefully that will get better.

Don't be too hard on yourself when you fall off the wagon, we have all done, and we will surely do it again!!! Just remember that today is a new day and you can start over.

You're eating looks good, I don't think you did too bad for breakfast on your way to the doctors. It could have been worse!

Yah for you for resisting all the goodies at your DD field day/graduation celebration!

Keep up the good work!

Have a great day :)

Thanks eeyore!

I had a late start to my day today. But the good news is that the shot in my foot has taken effect so I have a few weeks of pain relief ahead of me (I hope). :woohoo:

It is 1:30 and so far I have only had a very late breakfast at 12:30! Gonna be one of those days.

B: Go Lean Oatmal Coffee Water

L: 1/2 serving of Sauteed Chicken and couscous, water

S: WW bread, 1 oz lunch meat and cheese stick, 1 oz peanuts, water

D: pork chop, 1/2 cup brown rice, steamed broccoli, diet pepsi

S: coffee w/ flavored creamer

This was a good day. I have been in so MUCH pain for so long I have forgotten what it is like to actually not be in pain and be able to walk some. I can't believe just how it changes my whole mood and makes me just want to get up and go. I was back to my my mostly active get up and go self today. I feel pretty good! I know that right now this is temporary, but if I lose the weight maybe it can be permanent.

Hello LTS. Glad to see you are back.

So sorry about the foot pain. And the blood sugar issues. They can really put a bigger challenge on working towards becoming healthier. I wish the best for you. How are your goals? I know writing them down and journalling them has helped me. You are doing well with logging food. I am so bad at that. I get started, and then get behind and stop. I will have to start again. It really helps.

Best to you!

Wendy

Thanks.

Great reminder to put some goals over here. I am on 2 threads so am cross posting a lot but I do need to have that here.

Right now we have a mini Challenge to lose 5 pounds by July 4th. Secretly I am hoping that I exceed that by at least a pound or 2 ;) .

I am going to take this 10 pounds at a time. I haven't looked at a calendar to see when is realistic to lose that amount. I am not sure I am so much focused on the pounds.

Maybe these are better GOALS:

I just bought "fatter" shorts. I want to back in my plain "fat" shorts by mid July.

I want to be drinking at least 4-6 cups of water a day.

I want to stick to a healthy eating plan and to journal it.

I want to exercise 3x a week. Okay, I want to exercise more, but I need to be realistic and that would be a great start for me there.

B: Coffee Whole Wheat Toast with Lite Peanut Butter

S: small yogurt, cheese stick, snap peas, water

L: 1/2 serving of Sauteed Chicken and couscous

S: square of chocolate, canned peaches and cottage cheese

D: hamburger patty with cheese wrapped in lettuce, black beans, pineapple, diet Pepsi

B: Go Lean Oatmeal, Coffee

L: Black Bean soup with Sour Cream and Cheddar Cheese, 1/2 ham sandwich, water

S: Cheese stick, banana

D: Stir fry, brown rice, water

S: popcorn

Pretty good day. I ate healthy, but my portion for dinner was too big. I was hungry. It did have lots of veggies but I still ate probably 2x as much as I should have. And then I still had home popped popcorn later cause, well, it was really good! But I have had a good week.

B: Go Lean Oatmeal, strawberries, coffee

L: Banana, 1/2 cup black bean soup, frozen pasta dinner of some sort, water

S: Coke and Peanut Butter Ritz Bits *

D: Canned Peaches and Cottage Cheese, Water

Quite a day. I went to visit a friend in the hospital between breakfast and lunch. I was planning on being there for only a few minutes but it ended up being much longer. The nurses came in to do some things to her and, well, I DON'T handle medical stuff well. I FAINTED. The fact that it was long past lunch probably didn't help either. I got home and lunch was kind of a blur cause I was trying to just get some food in me.

* Well snack was NOT healthy. Loaded with sugar and carbs and NONE of them good. But I was struggling all afternoon after my faiinting episode and was continuing to be woozy and ick. I finally just decided I had to get some more "fast sugar" in me. May not have been the right choices? I really don't know but I did feel much better after I ate them. I will have a salad for dinner.

B: scrambled Eggs with cheese, coffee, 1/4 piece of WW toast

S: banana, cottage cheese w/ french dressing

L: grilled chicken salad with Lemon/Lime vinagrette, iced tea

S: coffee

D: Tuna sandwich (tuna, dill relish, carrots, celery, mayo) 2 slices WW bread, diet Pepsi

B: Go Lean Oatmeal, Coffee

S: Yogurt, water

L: 1/2 tuna sandwich, tomato soup, water

S: coffee

D: SB recipe Lemon Garlic Chicken (not bad), 1/2 cup Garlic and Olive Oil Couscous, Steamed Asparagus, Water

I bought batteries for my scale today (it died a month or so ago) so I guess I can weigh in now and get an official progress report. I am not sure I want to. I FEEL good. I FEEL like I am doing a good job and I really have been eating well. I always worry that the number on the scale won't show the progress, no matter how good I have been.

B: WW Oat Muffin, Yogurt, Coffee, Water

L: Leftover SB chicken and couscous from last night

S: peanuts

D: Taco salad with ff refried beans, beef, lettuce, cheese, ranch dressing, diet pepsi

Avoided ice cream when we all went out for ice cream tonight :cool1:

B: Kashi Go Lean Cereal, coffee

S: Cheese Stick

L: 2 slices ww bread, lean ham and turkey, carrot sticks, water

S: Iced Coffee (homemade--not fancy full of fat store bought kind), sugar free grape popsicle

S: Oat Muffin

D: Soy Sauce Chicken, White Rice, broccoli, water

I had planned to have brown rice for dinner but forgot to make it. Dinner was hectic and I didn't get it made in time. So when I sat down and realized I forgot to heat up my rice I decided to skip it --I was tired and hungry--and just have chicken and broccoli. But then I had too much sauce and one thing lead to another and I had about 1/2-3/4 cup of white rice. Overall it won't kill me. I just need to remember plan better for ME when making family meals.

Hello LTS!

You have some very reachable goals. Sometimes I will put myself in over my ambition! Then, I will get a wake up call and get back on track.

Wow, you fainted! I am sorry you had to experience all that. Hope both you and your friend are doing well.

WONDERFUL job on dieting! Something I usually have to work on! Even with goals!

Have a great week!

Wendy

Thanks for the great comments Wendy. I appreciate them! :goodvibes

B: yogurt, Oat muffin, coffee, water

L: chef salad, water

D: Dinner at the Melting Pot--no real need to document that! Let's just say it was GOOD! I didn't pig out, but I did enjoy myself! I did eat a lot of veggies to help balance out the cheese and chocolate ;)

Going to the Melting Pot tonight. I have been planning this "cheat" for about 2 weeks. I know it is diet blowing but it is just one night and I will be back on it tomorrow. I am planning to enjoy myself and some great food, but also to not "pig out" like I normally would. I will try to enjoy everything and eat enough to be satisfied but not so much that I am bloated and stuffed. Even doing that would be a huge change for me.

That is my plan anyway. I guess I will report back on what actually happens.
