I'm having lower right abdominal pain as well as a little lower back pain on the right side (but the abdominal pain is worse....the back pain is coming and going, not constant) and chills. I think it might be the uterine and ovarian cysts that I know I still have, but it could also be something else so I'm thinking of going to the ER (I don't want to go if it's nothing.) It definitely doesn't feel like a kidney stone or kidney infection which I've had before, If I disappear later, I've gone to the ER and I'll let you guys know what happens.
I also am not sure whether to tell TJ if I go because I know he's busy doing something with the Boy Scouts and I don't want him to feel like he has to leave that to be with me.

You may want to give your Dr a call and see what he/she says. I'm trying to remember what symptoms my friend had a couple years ago when she had appendicitis, but I think they were similar to what you are describing. Right side pain, chills, etc. I pray you feel better soon.

If the pain becomes unbearable, I would go to the ER by myself. Did you call your regular physician? Even though it is the weekend, either he or another Dr. will be on call and they could advise you on what to do.

TJ should be with his son, doing the Boy Scout activity, it is important for a father to have one-on-one time with his child, especially if it is a planned event, and it sounds as though it is the Gold Rush or Klondike Derby, which is only held once a year. I am sure his son would be bitterly disappointed if that got ruined for him.

You can always call TJ or a family member later from the ER.

Both of my brothers had appendicitis and I believe their symptoms were similar to yours. Is there anyone who can go with you: family or friend? You may not be able to call from the ER if you are admitted. I would call the dr. to see what s/he has to say.

He's not with his son (his son's in Oregon and is only one.) He's with his stepbrother who's 10.

Abdominal pain can be a whole lot of things. If it were appendicitis, the pain would probably have been very sudden and intense, and it would be getting worse. If you put some pressure over your lower right abdomen, it would be too intense, and you definitiely react to that.
You've had kidney stones before, so you know what that pain-from-heck-but-not-heck feels like, so it's probably not that.
Sometimes urinary tract infections can result in pain in the abdomen and back. If you have any cranberry juice in the house, it can't hurt to drink some.
IN any case, I hope it goes away on its own really, really soon!

It hurts more if I press on it or lie on my stomach, whatever that means.

Well, in my qualified opinion.... Oh wait - I'm not the least bit qualified - and even if someone else here is how would you know that?

Go to the ER or a walk in clinic - or see if your insurance company has an "ask a nurse" line or web-site and get some professional advice.

Ouch! So sorry, Becki! Definitely call your doc's office and talk to someone about your symptoms. I was just in my doc's this morning...now have an antibiotic for the next week. Feel better and let us know how it goes!

Do you have your appendix? Do you think you would like to say good bye to your appendix? Call your PCP and tell him/her your symptoms and I will probably think he/she will tell you to head on into the ER. Don't mess around and call!

Asking strangers on an internet message board to diagnose your illness is an awfully risky endeavor, don't you think? Not everyone on any of the boards will be on the up and up; you could be steered completely wrong. Take the advice of those who tell you to go to a doctor. If you don't have a primary care physician, go to an Urgent Care center (otherwise known as a Doc in a Box).

Well, I actually wasn't asking for advice this time...just informing you guys of what was going on. I went to the ER and it turned out to be a kidney infection.

I am glad you went and it was just a kidney infection. Antibiotics should kick in and you should feel better soon. Take it easy and get some rest!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_8_3.gif' border=0></a> Don'f forget to keep up with fluids, too! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_4_49.gif' border=0></a>

I'm glad you went and were able to get treatment!!I pray you feel better soon now that you have some meds to take.

By the way, I hope I didn't offend anyone who did offer advice...It's not that I didn't appreciate your advice (or your caring enough to offer it), but I just wanted those who thought it was silly to ask for advice to realize that I didn't actually ask for advice.
