$500 credit limit??? Is this normal to start??? I've never been given a low credit limit, my credit is great. Even my other chase accounts have 5x as much limit as the Disney card I got and I pay it off EVERY month.

I just wondered if it's normal to start out with a low credit limit. I did request an increase, I was hoping for more so I can start getting Disney rewards... I can't do much with a $500 limit.. $5/month isn't going to get me far in Disney! lol

Chase seems to be doing some weird/ugly things lately as I've been reading on these boards today so might just be another strange one! Call them is your best bet to getting the answer you are looking for.

Mine was only $1000 to start (and my Amazon Chase card was $3500 or so). I was able to increase it about 3 months later when I needed it, but they've never periodically increased my limit, as opposed to my Amazon card which they do.

I have stellar credit and when I got my Disney Visa, the limit was only like $750. The only way I got chase to raise it was by closing one the other card I had with with them (which had a much higher limit) and combining the credit limits. I wasn't thrilled about closing the 1st card, but we wanted to use the Disney Visa rewards for our wedding/honeymoon, and needed the higher limit to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, when I applied for the Disney Rewards Visa, I also got a really low credit limit of about $500-$1000. It was the LOWEST credit limit that I have ever received when opening a credit card - lower even than my first! The funny thing is that over the years many of the banks and credit card companies (First USA and Bank One) that issued my credit cards merged and I had about 2-3 OTHER cards with Chase with most credit limits in the five digits.

When we purchased our DVC add-on, I wanted to charge the full amount to my reward card. I didn't want to close any of my other other Chase cards because of my long credit history - some were opened in the 80's. So, I called and had the credit card representative transfer a $12,000 limit from one of my older cards to one of my newer reward cards instead.

I do think that this credit limit transfer counts towards your credit limit adjustment that you can only make every few months. I didn't want a total credit limit increase with Chase - I just wanted an increase on the card I was using the most.

I keep do keep my older cards open but unused and mainly use my newer rewards cards. Hope this helps.

i am a 20 year old kid with AMAZING credit and they gave me a 2000 dollar spending limit. so i dont know, maybe they want to punish the people more likely to be responsible, i know i am 700 dollars from maxing it out :wizard:

I also got a $500 limit on my Disney card despite excellent top-tier credit. My other cards have limits in the 25-35K range so $500 from Disney was insane. As a result, we never really used the card.

The only time I use it is when they do a special pin promotion while we're in WDW.

We carry no credit card debt, have excellent credit and they gave us $1000. The reason I applied was to do the rewards and the 6 mos. zero interest for paying the balance of our trip to earn rewards to use on the trip.

THEN, my 19 year old son applied so I could get the 25 bonus reward dollars (because I was at 19 reward dollars before our trip and couldn't get a card without it being at least 20) and they gave him a $1500 credit limit! He has no job, he's a college student. He's also had overdrafts at the bank.

I only pull mine out when I go to WDW to get the free picture at Epcot. :rolleyes1

Ours was 10,000 I think. We've had it for several years now. I just read that they raised the interest rate as well. We always pay off every month but if you don't watch for that!

You know, I suspect that it may have something to do with you have any existing Chase credit cards when you apply.

Maybe there is a credit limit cap on the total credit limits on ALL your cards so they issue really low limtis on the Disney rewards card if you already have other Chase cards with high limits. :confused3

Also, if you have TOO MUCH available credit that is not used on your other accounts, many companies won't give you a high limit because there's a chance you could go out and max out all that credit and not be able to pay them at all.

I think there must be no reasoning to this what-so-ever! We have less than perfect credit ( to say the least) and we opened ours just this time last year with a credit limit of $5000.

That could be because our vehicle loan was with Chase and the balance was around 11K when I applied. We just traded and our new loan is with some other bank so I'll see if it goes up. It's certainly not the best rewards program, but I thought it would be good to keep all our expenses for WDW in one spot so I could see what we actually spent on the entire trip. It's paid off now, so I'm hoping for some of the offers I hear others get like double rewards, etc.

My daughter is 20 and had a bank credit card with a limit of 1000 that she got at 18. She got the Disney Visa in June with a limit of 4000.

We just received our new Disney Rewards VISA two weeks ago and we got $13,500 limit and no interest till Dec. '08.

When I opened mine in January, they sent me a card with about an $8,000 limit and I also have 2 other Chase cards.:confused3 They don't have much on them because I pay them in full every month though.

I had 0% interest until last month, and then they messed up and applied some money that I sent to pay off my regular balance to the vacation balance and tried to charge me almost $7 in finance charges and made my interest rate skyrocket. Like I said, I always pay my bills in full every month ,except for the vacation because I had until December, so I was pretty mad. I called them and they fixed it, but I'm paying the trip off now anyway. It's too confusing.

After I earn rewards for this trip in November, the card is going back in my wallet and I'm going to use my Chase Toys R Us visa to get $10 giftcards instead.
