I have some LowePro lens cases and while they are very nice they are sometimes a bit overkill, too bulky, and $$$. For packing lenses in my carry-on luggage a bit less protection will do and it comes in the form of wine totes!

For only $16 this tote holds two or three lenses and provides some protection. It may also double as a wine bottle tote in an emergency. ;)

I use Zing pouches, which I originally found at the photo store at Rochester Institute of Technology. They are neoprene so take up very little space when empty, they weigh almost nothing, and they attach nicely to the belt. Off the top of my head, I think mine are mediums, and if I really stretch them, I can fit my 50-135mm F2.8 or two smaller lenses, like the 31mm + 10-17mm fisheye.

The only problem is that one of them on your belt is not too bad, but if I put both on, I think my wife will refuse to be seen in public with me!

I pack them in diapers. Works supringinly well. It's only an issue at the end of the day for obvious reasons. :)
