Low Carb Products --which have you tried and which do you LIKE?

My recommended *avoid at all costs* item are the bars from Carb Solutions. My DH tasted one and spit it out. He asked me to taste it to see if it was bad. I spit it out. It wasn't bad... just gross. I had bought it in Sam's Club and took the rest of the box back without any problems.

Which one did you try, RUDisney? I tried the chocolate nut and the truffle and they were very good! Not Hershey's but a good one.

I actually made some candy yesterday based on a recipe I found on another website. Made me feel like I was so totally cheating! I'll post it when I find it again!

BTW, I bought the AdvantEdge shakes and had one for breakfast this morning. I liked it alot AND it filled me up! Great replacement for breakfast and got 4 for about $2.00 with the coupon and the sale at Kroger. Good deal!

It was the brownie nut one. I think chewing on an old, used shoe sole would have been as tasty.

For those of you who like the Breyers LC ice cream, did you like Breyers ice cream before going LC, too? I never cared for the Breyers brand, and I don't care for the LC either. I'm just curious about this.

the Cheif's Choice frozen dinners are low carb and actually good

For cereal... which I had been missing...

Nutritious Living Hi-Lo Cereal - Net carb 5 g per 1/2 cup. And it is pretty tasty.

I just bought Carb COuntdown Dairy Beverage in regular and Chocolate!!!! mmmmmm

And another thing that has been a lifesaver for me has been Swiss Miss DIET hot chocolate. The No Sugar Added one has almost double the carbs in it. The DIET one is in a pink box, and it has not been easy to find.

If you have a Trader Joes nearby, they are getting alot more low-carb items in. And for a good price.

The low-carb store that I go to in my area is having a taste testing party this Saturday. So I can not wait to go and try some things before I buy them.

Do these breakfast bars have any partially hydrogenated oils? I would like to try these instead of the organic breakfast bars I have been eating, but if there are any trans fats then I won't. I have the same question with the muffin mixes.

Thanks!

My Mom ate alot of Breyer's growing up but I was not much of an ice cream person since my Dad worked for Louis Sherry Ice Cream which became Haagen Dazs. For 27 years out of my life we got FREE ice cream and I didn't like it. BUT I WAS the most popular kid in my class.... :teeth:

I never really cared for Breyers ice cream, I just never thought that it was very creamy.

I bought the Breyers LC Chocolate ice cream, but have not tried it yet (it seems like such an indulgence for 4 carbs for only 1/2 a cup), but I will let you know what I think once I cave in. :teeth:

My sister bought the chocolate Carbsmart ice cream, not as good as the vanilla, which is excellent. And I'm a chocoholic. Even my son didn't like it. As he said, HOW could they make such a good bar and a lousy chocolate ice cream???

Finally broke down and bought the Keto Ketchup. It was just so expensive I'd keep picking it up and putting it back! Well, I agree, it's really worth the money. I'm sure it will last me forever and I was sure missing ketchup on my burgers!

Well I DID cave in and I had my chocolate Carb Smart. Surprisingly, I thought that it was VERY good - TOO good maybe. I put it back in my freezer that it is in my garage to keep it from being easily accessable.

I also tried the Nickels brand lo carb bread - Healthy Slices, I think that it is called. I have the wheat kind and I thought that it was very good. I toasted a slice and added a tablespoon of Simply Jif for 8 carbs. It is kind of a hefty carb count, but I figured that it might be something that I can have whenever I miss breakfast and have to have "brunch."

I am going to have to try to find some of the ketchup. I would love to find the Heinz lo carb one.

:)

Oh also, the bar that I like and that is kind of filling is Carb Wise - I have had the chocolate peanut one. It is 3 net carbs and I like to have it to grab when we are rushing out of the house to church on Sunday mornings. (The rest of the family has donuts when we get there. )

I bought a low carb milk that is made by Hood. Save your money. It's like watered down milk. Blech!

I also made Carbolite pancakes on Saturday. They were very thin and eggy. Not bad, but not like real buttermilk pancakes, either. The thing I didn't like was the watered down Atkins maple syrup. There was no body to it at all... but, I have been accustomed in the past to real maple syrup, so that may have been the downfall to this product.

Bringing this back because we could all use the reviews!

I tried recently:

LeCarb Ice Cream -- I tried the Vanilla and it's very good. Not as creamy as the CarbSmart, though. Kroger had a pint for $1.66 and they disappear daily! I was lucky enough to find one yesterday!

DaVinci Hazelnut syrup!! FINALLY found this! I was about to order it on the Netrition site for $7.49 when I finally found it at Kroger for $3.39. I plan to use it for a cheesecake recipe but used it today for coffee and it was awesome!

Atkins Caramel Nut Endulge Bars - These taste like mini Snickers bars! Michael and I fight over them! We have them as a weekly treat, Saturdays only, and they're at WalMart for 96 cents.

As you can tell, PRICE plays a big part in what I choose! :p

I like the Breyer's Carb Smart ice cream and the Klondike bars. The Russell Stover low carb candy is good if you don't overdo. Also, just tried for the first time the Entenmann's low carb products...blueberry muffins, brownies. Not too bad. I just took a bite of each. Still too many carbs for me to eat the whole thing.

I love the DaVinci syrup. I'm trying to find the La Tortilla Factory tortillas in my area. Does anyone know where to buy them around the Philadelphia area?

I finally found a candy bar made with Splenda! (I can tolerate only very small amounts of maltitol!) These candy bars are: Z-carb - with zero impact carbs! Costco had them, and I believe that 7-eleven had them at one time!

Awesome! I have to look for these. I've resorted to making my own because I can't tolerate the others. Thanks!

I love most of the Low-Carb candies made by Russel Stovers. The chocolate covered peanuts are great. Watch out or you'll eat the whole bag!!!

Dh has been doing LC for over a year. These are his favorites:

-Delite Choc bars for making Atkins Chocolate cake
-Ketogenics products: muffin mixes (except blueberry, yuck),
-loves chocolate crisp candy bars, syrup.
-Atkins morning bars cinnamon bun
-Atkins endulge fudge ice cream bars
-Atkins cereals are ok
-A Mass. based co. Joseph's Bakery company makes a terrific lc pita bread 5c
-Our local Hannaford is carrying a very good lc tortilla
-Splenda

Dislikes: Atkins maple syrup, Carb Solutions anything, Atkins bake mix.

I just found some Carbolite candies at wal-mart. They were by the checkout, not with all the other low carb stuff.

We tried the Gummy Bears---my dh is a gummy bear addict. They were really good. Even the kids liked them.

Vanilla Caramels--good. Very sweet though, so just one will do.

Sour Citrus Slices--these had a funny taste to them. I don't know if it was the sour stuff on them or what.

They were $1.43 for 2 serving bags.

Atkins pancake mix
Atkins apple breakfast bar
Atkins cereal (tried blueberry and banana)
Carys sugar free syrup
Bryers lo carb vanilla icecream (with a sliced up strawberry - yum!)
never realized how much we like sugar free jello too!

haven't tried any breads/bagels - thats what we are adding next week.
