Loved "Satu'Li Canteen" !!!

I'll take it one further and say it is better than a fair number of TS locations too.

Interesting to hear this because I've been going back and forth between Yak&Yeti TS or Satu'li Canteen. We have not been to either. I wish we had enough room in the tummies to try both, but we will be doing Boma later that night.

Now we do love Yak and Yeti but yeah, if you made me pick one right here, right now, I'd pick Satu'li for certain. DH may disagree with me. Though he prefers anywhere that seats you and brings you your food over a place where you order and seat yourself just based on that part alone.
But those bowls at Satu'li, yummy. That tofu was so good.
Would be hard for me to pass on the Tuna Nachos though
Thankfully, we have 2 days at AK next month ;)

We enjoyed it. We shared tastes.

DS1 got the kids hot dog meal and I thought it was clever, ample food even for adult and tasty.

DS2 went with the beef, rice and black bean vinaigrette. He really liked it all. I thought the beef was very good, the rice needed more flavor and maybe that meant just more dressing.

I got the chicken, potato hash and creamy herb dressing. The hash was good but as a side it would have been better. Mixing it with the chicken and heavy dressing was just too much.

I don't do tofu and I'm very picky about fish ... didn't want the green salad (wanted different) and I don't know why quinoa doesn't wow me. Those steamed buns don't entice me at all ... so my only choice is the "bowls."

We got both desserts, very pretty, each very different from other and we enjoyed ... but not something I'd have to get each trip. SO when I consider all that, the menu is very limiting to me. I wish there were more entrees. The plus is there are plenty of eat options at AK.

If you are talking Y&Y Quick Service then I would eat in Pandora for sure. Y&Y Table Service is one of our favorites so that would be a tough choice.

Nice to hear you enjoyed the tofu! Our daughter is a vegetarian. We have two days planned, too, but for our other day I was going to try to book a ROL package at Tusker House. Hate to do it since we'll already be eating at Boma one day, but we want to see ROL and do not want to use two credits for Tiffins or pay OOP. The other meal that day will hopefully be 'Ohana after ROL. If it is easy to get stand by seats for ROL, though, or a later in the day FP, I would consider not doing ROL dinner package. I know you enjoy ROL, so any feedback you have on this plan would be welcome. Maybe I should consider doing Tusker House as a breakfast so we can fit in a lunch at Satu'li? Still might be stuffed that day, though, as we tend to only do two meals a day. Our 180 days + is coming up in a few days, and I'm starting to get burnt out on planning.

Oh, I see the dilemma for sure. I'd be reluctant to do both Boma and TH too. I would opt for breakfast at TH and then dinner at Satu'li, or at least late lunch/early dinner there. We do the same, 2 meals at Disney is enough for us too.

Word of note about the tofu at Satu'li, it is spicy. Not hot but spicy for certain. I loved it. I did it with the potato hash and vinaigrette. I loved that combination so much I'm not sure I'd ever be able to switch it up

This info helps a bunch! Spicy tends to not go over well with our daughter, so thank you for putting that out there. I think it sounds delicious, though! : )

I don't think so. That was often said about Skippers and Tiffins too, often by CM working there. While they've tweaked them a bit here and there they haven't had any significant changes. Don't take what the CM say as gospel. They don't have all the details, even if they talk like they do.
Yeah but to be fair, it's still pretty early for those two restaurants as well. Not so sure about Skippers, but I could see Tiffins caving. I just don't see these pods going over with the masses, and lets face it, they'll be expecting much bigger crowds at a quick service place than a table service I would think. Not to mention, the counter service folks are not only choosing it because it's cheaper, but a lot of them choose it because they're not the most adventurous eaters as well. They'll be looking for their good ole burger and fries a lot of the time. The almighty dollar will dictate this one for sure.

We had a party of 8, two of them age 10 and under. The votes for their favorites across the board this trip were Skippers's and Tiffins. Admittedly we are adventurous eaters, but think that is a little more common now.

Didn't they make it "worse" at Skippers by adding the whole fish with the head still on it? Not only did they not start serving burgers but they left eyes on the new menu item!
I can't remember how the fish was served when it first opened. But if anything you could consider that making it more adventurous, not less.

Tiffins is the newer, over 1 year now and Skippers is approaching 2 years now. I'd say the new is worn off Skippers for sure. The menus for both are very well received by those that eat there

Agreed. Burgers are a dime a dozen at Disney. You can't walk 10 paces without finding one. Same with chicken nuggets. It's not like the folks that want that can't find it. People want something else. And there are enough wanting something else that Skippers, Tiffins, Satu'li are fitting in just fine.

The Whole Fish is Excellent! That is our favorite to order, having head on doesn't bother me, it is a truth that I am eating something that once was alive. Very Delicious!

Awesome! Thanks for the review. I'm really looking forward to trying it on the next trip to AK!

Will definitely make a point to try this. Everything I've seen about this restaurant looks interesting. On our DAK day we are having breakfast at Boma and early dinner at Tusker House, so I expect we'll be hungry by 8/9pm while we are in Pandora.

We at at Satu'li twice last trip. The cheeseburger pods are my picky kid's favorite in all of AK (even over the side of chicken fried rice at Y&Y QS, which is saying a lot). The rest of us also really loved the mix and match options of the bowl as well as the beers they offer there from Terapin. We have a trip in two weeks with two stops at AK. We are torn between Satu'li, Y&H QS, and Nomad Lounge. A year ago I would never had thought that I'd have this kind of challenge outside of Epcot. Kudos AK!

I will say I am not wowed by the desserts in Pandora at all - and neither is my sweet toothed girl. That is easily remedied by a sweet treat elsewhere.

Boy I hope y'all are right! I love to try new things like the pods that I've seen. I'm pretty adventurous unless you start getting into the bizarre stuff. Changing a bun into a pod, or adding boba's is just plain cool to me. :teeth: I don't want any squirrel or anything. lol
