Just back from a wonderful week at WDW, and we had a lot of great meals. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was at the character buffets -- we ate at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. We had early seatings at both and maybe that helped, but overall everything was fresh and yummy. I was impressed with all the great veggies and salads. With food like that, I could easily be a vegetarian!

Kona Cafe is wonderful. We have started a tradition of having a meal there on our last night, then hitting the beach for fireworks/electrical water pageant. The food was excellent and we always have great service. This time we had a table in the middle of the room and I could look out the huge glass windows at all the greenery and see monorails glide by... Heaven! The roast chicken is my favorite, and the beef dishes my family ordered were great too (hubby shared). The unique bread they give you is delicious. I wish I could mail-order it home! The only problem I see is that there is rarely any room for desserts. I love food, but I hardly ever have room for dessert here! It's torture to see all those beaautifully-presented desserts and not have room for one! We decided on the next visit that we will visit Kona later one evening, just for dessert!

I recommend Kona to everyone.

YES - make sure you try the desserts! They are incredible. :)

Thanks for the reviews.

Loved your review, Colleen, but next time you simply MUST try dessert. :teeth: I love the Ko Ko Puffs!

213 days and counting . . . again!

Glad you like the Kona Cafe as it's a favorite of ours, too! Almost like a hidden jewel since so many people only go there for breakfast (tonga toast) or over to Ohana's. The roasted chicken is also my favorite.

This will be the second trip we will leave the kids at the Neverland Club to go out to dinner ALONE. With all the available choices, we still go back to the Kona Cafe!

My DS and I had dinner last June at the Kona Cafe. It was the first time we tried this restaurant and we were very happy with everything.
The first appetizer I order was quickly wiped out by my DS so I had to order one for myself.
The main meals were extraordinary! The service was great! The view and the atmosphere are fabulous!
The Kona Cafe is now on our "must do" list and we plan to eat there again in our upcoming trip.

Does anyone know if the Kona Cup is still on the list of desserts? I got this the last time we were there and it was wonderful. It had a mousse and a "cup" of almond brittle. Yum!!! Just hoping they still have it. We leave in May!!!

There was a "Konamisu" which was a tiramisu in a little bowl made of almonds glued together with candy-syrup. Is that it? Maybe a similar thing? That's the closest I remember to what you describe. There was a kids cone, cheesecake, koko puffs, a banana-something, a chocolate lava cake, apple brown betty, and the tiramisu thing. Hope this helps. Now I am hungry!

Loved your reviews. We did Chef Mickey's for B'fast in Dec. and really enjoyed it, the food was very good. We always eat B'fast at Kona's at least a couple of times on each trip, but have not had dinner there in a few years. After reading your review we will have to plan on eating there when we go next.

Collen Costello -- that's it. You just made my day. They must have changed the name of it. But that was it. I'm so excited now!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply!

Maria and Ron, go for it! At WDW, it's "so much food so little time!"

My Mom got the KonaMisu this time and I did taste it -- YUM. We will be at the Poly for 5 nights in June (haven't stayed there since I was 14!) and I am wondering if you can get the Kona desserts through room service? Sitting on the patio eating all that sugar would be WONDERFUL! :)

We vowed to do 'Ohana in June. It's my Mom's favorite. They have a dessert we love too. It's a vanilla ice cream ball rolled in coconut and topped with almonds and chocolate sauce. It's very good... Tastes like a cold Almond Joy bar. Might need to get that one delievered to the room, too!

Colleen -- we tried to get it delivered through Poly room service and they told us we couldn't. So my husband would just go up to Kona and had the hostess get one for us and put it in a box. I had hoped for the same -- delivery to the room would have been much easier. But let me tell you, that wasn't going to stop me.

Since we are staying at the contemporary this time, I already told my husband that we'll have to take the monorail over to the Poly several times at night before going back to our room so I can get my little almond dessert. Yum Yum.
