How bad are love bug's on i-75 this time of year??????Wondering do i need to coat the front of my truck with pam spray (don't laugh it works !)

Thank's i know that between gainsville and ocala it is bug city (over the swamp)I have had to stop several times on my way in ocala just to get them off the windshield and bumper so i could get to orlando!

The month of May is generally the only time you will see the "Love Bugs" as that is their "Love Season". I-75, in fact, the entire State of Florida should be clear of "Love Bugs". There are your standard variety of other highway bugs though but not the masses like you see when the "Love Bugs" are out. :thumbsup2

They've been pretty bad here (NW Florida - Walton County) for the last week or so, so I wouldn't be too surprised if you run into a few

17 Days and 23 hours til we're back at Ft. Wilderness and WDW. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Oh, yeah, they're bad right now. My Kindergartners were having a 'smash-fest' today while we were waiting outside the library. And the front window of my van is a mess after the kids used it to go to Epcot yesterday. The Orlando news said we should have them for about 2 more weeks and their peak time daily is about 10 am and they sleep at night.

Pam, huh? Does the front end have to be clean first? And what gets them off the windows? Please, don't tell me elbow grease!

Samsh fest....... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: They are all over the place here!!!!!! It doesnot ever hurt to have you van clean before putting on the pam,,i saw that on one of our local new's show and a paint and body man said apply it to the area's
most likely to be hit by bugs... and he showed a car were it was applied and they came off fairy easy and a car where there was none and well you know.......plus it ruins the paint if you leave those bug's on......
Windsheilds i carry a big can of bug remover ...but i have found if you apply some rain x or glass wax it really helps

big kahuna1 i think the love season has went upside down here in Ga as they are all over the place here! Thanks!

Wow only a couple more weeks and you will be back!

John VN Clear today, tomorrow???????????????? What can you say ...It's bugging me........lol Thanks :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok what are you calling LOVE BUGS? Are you refering to the ladybugs the red ones with black spots and the now orange ones with black spots that tend to bite.

love bugs to be widespread, but most common ... love bugs are actually man-made, the result of a University of Florida genetics

Those are the ones. The ones you see attached at the tail. Hence, "Love Bugs". Maybe they have two mating times a year. May and September. I know I hit a boat load of them back in May heading to Ga. Did not get any heading to Ga. at the beginning of this month so maybe they become "attached" towards the end of September again. :confused3 :)

Spray your car!!! They are bad now. We live in Jacksonville and just got back from Panama City. They are everywhere

Drove back from Disney yesterday to Georgia. The love bugs are terrible along I-75 right now, worst I have seen in a long time. The front of my car looks like it grew hair. I overheard a couple of kids commenting on the bugs on my truck yesterday in the grocery store parking lot, and I explained to them what they were. They were bad at WDW too. Kept getting them smooshed on my shirt and shorts.

Hey whats the last thing to go through a love bugs mind....?

SPLATT............................................................. :happytv:
The love bug's were bad coming and going this past weekend! The pam theory well..........It worked the bug's came off easy....now if i could say the same for the pam!!!!!!Thank god for degreaser!Canot say i will do that one again....But it did work...just like the new's said.....

DW came home from St. Cloud on Sat. morning and after getting on to I-75 south at Tampa she said the LBs weren't too bad. Just goes to show you that depending on time of day and your own LB tolerance it's a hit or miss situation.

"Love bugs occur in great numbers along the highways because the photochemical reaction of automobile exhaust fumes and UV radiation attract and hold them over the highway. The flight of the love bug is restricted to daylight hours. At night, the bugs rest in low-growing vegetation."

So don't drive during the daylight hours! :rotfl:

We were in stiches when our tram announcer commented that the tram went something like 13 MPH - "amazingly, the same speed as the love bugs travelling along with us"!
And it was true - they were flying alongside the trams! (I honestly can't remember the MPH he said - because it was so funny at the time!)

We travel down I-95 so I can't speak for I-75....but they were pretty bad. Went down on the 15th and came back on the 25th - and they were still bad all the way through Georgia when we travelled back home.

Pam? We're going to have to try that one! They are annoying - but at least they don't sting you!
