Lounge "Day Pass" access in LAX to shower.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has bought a "Day Pass" for an airlines lounge area so that you can shower and unwind from your flight before getting on another one. The last time I was in LAX (6 hour stop over) we were going to go to a close by hotel to shower and rest before the flight but a few of the airport staff advised against it. I think it was due to the time of day and the amount of time that it would take to get back through immigration and customs.

Totally get it!

Pretty sure with Qantas you can only get access to the AA club as a Qantas Club member travelling on a QF or QF flight number, ie codeshare. Pretty exe for one or two only. DH and I are Qantas Club members and get one guest each. So for four people you'll need two memberships.

Just had a bit of a google at the new Koru Lounge area by Air New Zealand and it looks pretty good (well for someone who has never used a lounge area before) But then I was hooked at "private showers" in the refresh zone... After 14 hours of kids sleeping on me the use of a hot shower between flights would be wonderful. So tempted with the idea even though its $55 a person. Even though a hotel room would be cheaper the though of going through immigration and customs again with the kids would be a pain. So has anyone on this board used the lounge area between flights.

When you arrive you clear customs at your first entry point then go back through security anyway. Normally though the airline lounges are inside after security. I think $55 is kind of good value as you don't need to leave the airport, and if it's like Qantas get drinks and food and stuff whilst waiting.

OS we haven't got a lot of use. We both fly more domestically and use it that way. Though waiting the couple of hours before we come home in LAX is wonderful! One downside is that you need to be on a QF flight number to use the lounge (unless you have high status, ours isn't high!) But it is so good sitting there having a drink and relaxing, clean toilets, etc.

DH is a Qantas club member and we have used the AA Admiral's lounge in LAX for showers a couple of times. Having a shower at the end of the 14 hour flight is brilliant...particularly if you are in-transit for another 4 or 5 hour flight.

Not all airport lounges have showers....

Wish LAX had the same set up as Singapore Airport with the swimming pool. When we flew to Vietnam, we had a 4 hour transit on the way up so we took the kids to the swimming pool and we all had a lovely refreshing swim. Then, also included in the price was the use of showers with shampoo etc so I was even able to wash my hair on the transit stop. Bliss However, this time after a 3 hour tranist in LAX, I will feel and look like a walking zombie by time we get to MCO

we fly back from MCO to LAX, and catching the 11.30pm Qantas Flight. So potentially a very very long day flying. And the LAX terminal is pretty bad. Although we usually fly back via Air NZ, not sure if that is a different terminal.

There is a spouse membership as well, same access rights as the primary card holder, so one guest each. But a bit cheaper. EG So if you and your partner had a regular and spouse membership, that would be four people in total in the lounge. FWIW, each time I've been in it's getting pretty full around 9.30pm.

Our flight back is via Dallas, 2 hours from MCO into Dallas then just under 3 hours to leave. Dallas airport looks good with restaurants etc compared to LAX so I'm pretty happy about that. There are 5 of us travelling so I don't think I'll worry about the extra membership pass and it costs $$.

My husband is the only Qantas Club member in the family and we have been fortunate that all four of us have been allowed into the Qantas Club and the Admirals Lounge when travelling. This will probably stop soon as the children are now teenagers, 14 and 16.

We have used the reLAX lounge at LAX where you pay for 1 hour, 3 hours or all day. Ok but no showers.

I am also a Qantas Club member and have no problem getting DW and 2 DD into any Qantas Club or AA lounge at any airport.

The ability to have a shower and relax with a snack and drink prior to getting on the flight back at LAX after a flight from MCO is priceless. The Tom Bradley terminal at LAX where LA-Melb flights take off from are terrible. Once you clear security there is nothing to do and very little shops and no cafe/bars/restaurants.

The Qantas Club international lounges in Australia are also very comfortable to wait for your flights.

Qantas Club offers free food and drinks while AA you usually get a drinks voucher for 2 free drinks.

Costs me about $350 per year for my fees. As I travel a bit I do get great value from it. Also if your employer will allow you can salary package it tax free.

thanks for the info, i didn't realise you could also use the AA lounges. Might be worth it on this trip. shame we are leaving via Thai airways, i don't suppose they share the lounge! i think they are linked to AirNZ

Generally you will find airlines within their groups eg Qantas is in One World and Air New Zealand is in Star Alliance, you can use each other's lounges.
